Abstract


Respondent preferred enumerator characteristics for longitudinal study:  the case of Sleman health demographic surveillance system

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to explore the enumerator characteristics preferred by respondent for longitudinal study in the case of Sleman Health Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS Sleman).

Methods

A case study was conducted using primary and secondary data. Secondary data was in the form of transcript of research interview "Design of Reward System for HDSS Sleman Research Respondent", from respondents attrition sample category on the data collection cycle II. Equipped with primary data in the form of observation when taking HDSS data Sleman cycle III.

Results

Research respondents preferred an enumerator who conveyed the research identity, including explanation of research objectives, research procedures and benefits, and agency of the enumerator. The clarity of research objectives is the main respondents reason to stay motivated to participate in research Sleman HDSS.

Conclusion

Sleman HDSS respondents preferred enumerators who communicate the research identity in the form of research objectives, research procedures and benefits, as well as agencies, and enumerators.
