Focus and Scope

Jurnal Filsafat has been published since 1990, provides a forum for scientific communication of thought and research of philosophy. Published twice a year, i.e. February and August with p-ISSN: 0853-1870 and e-ISSN: 2528-6811. 

The editors welcome articles and research reports in the study of philosophy. The object materials of the study may include aspects of western philosophy, eastern philosophy, islamic philosophy, Indonesian philosophy, or Nusantara philosophy.

Peer Review Process

This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.

More specifically, our editorial process is as follows:

  1. Initial screening. This process is following the screening by the Editor-in-Chief for submission requirements and checked for plagiarism. Manuscripts that fail to abide by our ethical standards are immediately rejected.
  2. Reviewer assignment. The handling editor sends invitation to at least two relevant selected reviewers and initiate the peer review process.
  3. Peer review. Reviewers will assess the manuscript including the content and provide its recommendation notes to the Editor-in-Chief.
  4. First decision. Both reviewers have submitted their recommendation notes. In this section, the manuscript is either rejected, minor or major revision, or accepted. If it is accepted, the manuscript will return to the submitting author for proofreading. The final decision concerning the manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the recommendation notes and following approval by the editorial board.
  5. Revision. A manuscripts with recommendation notes is returned to the submitting author, who will have time to revise the manuscript during up to four weeks. Author should revise and responds several comments and suggestions in the manuscript.
  6. Final decision. The revised manuscript is either accepted or rejected, depending on whether the section editor decision.
  7. Language editing. Once the manuscript is accepted, it is returned to author for the final editing of its language content; to improve the readability without changing the substance of the content.
  8. Typesetting. The author will received the final version of the article will appear in Jurnal Filsafat. The author will recheck for final proofreading and final approval decision.
  9. Publication. Congratulations! The article will publish in the latest issue of Jurnal Filsafat. For several reason, some accepted articles will published right in the next issues, while others will be waiting for upcoming issues.

 

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Filsafat published twice a year in two times issues, Number 1-2 are scheduled for publication: February and August.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Filsafat is a scholarly journal, which publishes academic articles of the developments of thoughts and research in philosophy. Jurnal Filsafat accepts submissions of philosophy articles which haven’t been published or not being considered for publication in other medias. Jurnal Filsafat is committed to applying publication ethics standard strictly and accountably. Therefore, Jurnal filsafat has formulated publication ethics, which must be obeyed the publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors. This statement is relied on Practice Guidelines for publication as in Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE's Best)

Publisher’s Responsibilities

  1. Jurnal Filsafat is responsible for maintaining privacy and protecting intellectual property and copy right, and editorial independence.
  2. Jurnal Filsafat is responsible for guaranteeing academic freedom for the editors and mitra bestari in performing their tasks.
  3. Jurnal Filsafat as a scientific journal publisher publishes articles which have been edited, peer reviewed, given layout consistent with the regulation of scientific journal publication.

Editors’ Responsibilities

  1. The editors of Jurnal Filsafat is responsible for determining the suitability of articles to be published in the journal, while observing legal provisions related to defamation, copy right violation and plagiarism.
  2. The confidentiality of every information on submitted paper or article is always maintained by the Editors and editorial team, unless on author’s permission.
  3. The editors make decisions which are fair and free of commercially biased consideration and ensure fairness consistent with peer-review process.
  4. Racial, gender, religious, ethnic, citizenship or political ideological differences of an author must not influence the editors’ decisions in both review process and decision making in publishing an article.
  5. The editors shall not use papers not published for scientific activities, which are performed by the editor(s), without written permission from the author(s). Confidential information or idea obtained through peer-review shall be kept confidential and not used for personal gain.

 Authors’ Responsibilities

  1. The authors are responsible for writing papers or articles ethically, honestly and accountably, consistent with the regulation of scientific writing in effect.
  2. The authors are responsible for following publication requirements, which are originality, non-plagiarism, and not having been published in other journals or publications.
  3. The authors are responsible in presenting articles of their ideas or researches clearly, honestly, and without plagiarism as well as data manipulation.
  4. The authors are responsible for confirmations submitted for articles they have written.
  5. The authors are responsible for showing references from others’ cited opinions and works
  6. The authors must not send/publish the same articles to more than one journal or other form of publication.

Reviewers’s Responsibilities

Reviewer is in charge in helping the editors in making editorial decision on the suitability of papers/articles to be published:

  1. Reviewer shall review papers objectively and by using argumentative clarity.
  2. Reviewer shall maintain the confidentiality of article authors’ information and not for personal gain.
  3. Reviewer is responsible for citations, references, and plagiarism of the articles it reviews.
  4. Reviewer is responsible for the recommendation the articles in reviews.

Dealing with Misconduct

In cases of violations toward our upheld ethical guidelines, Jurnal Filsafat Editorial Board declares the following.

  1. Jurnal Filsafat has policies in place to detect and address plagiarism, data fabrication, and other forms of research misconduct.
  2. Jurnal Filsafat ensures that authorship is based on substantial contributions to the research and that all authors approve of their final published manuscript.
  3. Jurnal Filsafat has established mechanisms for addressing disputes and conflicts related to publication ethics.
  4. Jurnal Filsafat will issue retractions or corrections as appropriate if research misconduct or errors are discovered post-publication.
  5. Investigations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner, and appropriate actions will be taken if misconduct is confirmed.
  6. The above points are based on COPE’s principles and are communicated to all stakeholders, including editors, reviewers, and authors, to maintain the highest standards of academic publishing integrity.

 

Screening for Plagiarism

The manuscript that submitted into this journal will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin with tolerance up to 15% 

 

Digital Archiving

This journal utilizes the Indonesia One Search (IOS)Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISJD), and Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital) systems to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.

Review Guidelines

Any manuscripts / articles submitted to the Jurnal Filsafat Editor will be reviewed by a minimum of two selected reviewers based on their qualifications and experience in publishing their manuscripts in national and / or international journals. Reviewers will then provide recommendations on the eligibility of the manuscript to be published in the Jurnal Filsafat.

Some of the criteria that guide the review process are:

  1. Has the manuscript used good and proper English?
  2. Is the title of the manuscript sufficiently concise and can clearly illustrate the contents of the paper?
  3. Does the abstract have summarized briefly and clearly about: the purpose and scope of the study; summary of results; conclusion; and keywords?
  4. Does the introduction section clearly describe: the problem and scope of current scientific status; how to approach problem solving; and expected results?
  5. Does the discussion section contain the following description: there is a connection between the results obtained and the basic concept, and / or hypothesis; and conformity or contradiction with other research results.
  6. Does the conclusion be brief and clear about: the essence of research; and logical reasoning based on the data obtained?
  7. Are the references meet the updated requirements?

Based on the review of some of the above criteria, Reviewers will further select the following recommendations:

  1. The manuscript is worth published without any revision.
  2. The manuscript can be published with major revisions by the Author as suggested by Reviewers.
  3. The manuscript can be published with minor revisions on format and language that need to be done by the editor.
  4. The manuscript could not be published

 

Post Publication Ethical Review

In the situation where the Editorial Board find evidence of duplication or ethical/plagiarism standard being breached in an article upon its publication in the journal, the Editorial Board possess the right to execute retraction of the article from the journal.

In the situation where the author(s) find evidence of ethical/plagiarism standard being breached in his/her article upon its publication in the journal, the author(s) possess the right to request the Editorial Board to perform retraction of the article from the journal for revision(s).
