Author Guidelines

All correspondences and inquiries are addressed to the Chief Editor. Meanwhile, authors are asked to provide manuscripts as electronic files, as with such files, formatting requirements are few: a) Use MS Word 2016 or 365, double-spaced, 10 pt Tahoma, maximum of 20 pages b) Use Indonesian or English U.S. as the language, c) Indent or space between all paragraphs, d) Use the metric system throughout, and e) Avoid text footnotes, as they should be incorporated into the text. The manuscript needs to be arranged in such a way that all new sections begin on new pages. Meanwhile three or more reviewers are provided, and at least two of which are from a different university than the authors.

It needs to be brief, while also being informative and indicating the main point(s) of the paper, with a maximum 14 words.

This needs to be complete but without any title, and accompanied by the author and affiliation address. Furthermore, any corresponding author needs to provide and use an e-mail address unique to themselves and not one that is shared with another registered author or department.

A concise and factual abstract which briefly states the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions is needed. In addition, since an abstract is often presented separately from the article, it needs to be able to stand alone. For this reason, References should be avoided, but when essential, the author(s) and year(s) need(s) to be cited. Furthermore, non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided, but when essential they need to be defined at their first mention in the abstract itself. Finally, the abstract need not exceed 300 words, has to be constructed in 1 paragraph, and written in two languages, Indonesian and English.

This/these need to be provided below the abstract to help with the electronic search (3-5 words).

The Introduction section needs to explain:

  • The background to the study
  • The aims
  • A summary of the existing literature
  • The reason why the study was necessary

The methods section needs to include:

  • The aim, design and setting of the study
  • The characteristics of participants or description of materials
  • A clear description of all processes and methodologies employed, which involves using generic names. In addition, when proprietary brands are used in research, the brand names in parentheses need to be included
  • The type of statistical analysis used, including a power calculation when appropriate
  • Studies involving human participants, or data or tissue from animals need to include statement on ethics approval and consent.

The results and discussion needs to include the findings of the study, including, when appropriate, results of statistical analysis, which needs to be added either in the text or as tables and figures. Furthermore, this section needs to discuss the implications of the findings in the context of existing research, and also highlight the limitations of the study.

This needs to clearly state the main conclusions and provide an explanation of the importance and relevance of the study to the field. Furthermore, it has to be written in a paragraph.

Make sure to acknowledge anyone who contributed towards the article and does not meet the criteria for authorship, including all who provided professional writing services or materials. Nevertheless, authors need to obtain permission to acknowledge from all those mentioned in the Acknowledgements section.

Citation in text

Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Meanwhile, unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended. Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

The minimum requirement is to provide the full URL, and the date when the reference was last accessed. Any further information, when known (DOI, author names, dates, reference to a source publication, etc.), needs to also be provided. In addition, web references can be included in the reference list.

Example: AOAC. (2002). Guidelines for single laboratory validation of chemical methods for dietary supplements and botanicals. AOAC International, 1–38.

In addition, footnotes need to be indicated by superscript, and lowercase letters, while each table, cited in the text. Tables need to be placed next to the relevant text in the article, and they should be numbered consecutively, in accordance with their appearance in the text. In addition, all table notes need to be placed below the table body, sparing needs to be carried out in their use, and it should be ensure that the data presented in them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article. Finally, avoid using vertical rules and shading in table cells.

Ensure that each illustration has a caption, and provide them separately, not attached to the figure. A caption should comprise a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration. Meanwhile, keep text in the illustrations to a minimum but explain all symbols and abbreviations used. Indicate latitude and longitude on maps, and all color figures, foldouts, pocket maps, and more can be accommodated. However, the costs of color for publishing these special features must be borne by the author.

It is the author's responsibility to obtain any necessary permission to reproduce figures or tables from copyrighted sources. This includes any figures redrawn but basically unaltered or with only slight modifications. When excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) need(s) to obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.
