Abstract
ABSTRACT
Self etching one step adhesive is easily and fast applied, however this system shows the lowest bond strength. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of agitation and air drying time in self etching one step adhesive application on composite resin shear bond strength to dentin.
Thirty caries free maxillary premolar teeth were prepared and fixed using self cure acrylic resin. All teeth were randomly assigned in six groups. Self etching one step adhesive (G Bond, GC) was applied with and without agitation followed by air-drying time of 0 (without air drying), three and five seconds, and was cured for 20 seconds. Composite resin (Solare, GC), was placed over cured adhesive and was cured for 20 seconds. The research subjects were tested. Data obtained were analyzed using two ways anava and LSD post-hoc test.
The statistical analysis using two ways anava revealed that agitation and air drying time affected the bond strength to dentin.(p<0.05).
It can be concluded that agitation significantly improved the shear bond strength to dentin, 3 and 5 seconds air drying time significantly affected the bond strength to dentin, but there is no interaction between agitation and air drying time.
