Abstract

Composite resin is used to repair fractured porcelain because the esthetic reason and time saving. High tensile strength is usedto minimize the failure of porcelain reparation, so surface treatment that can increase tensile strength. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of surface treatment (H3PO4 37%, HFA 9%, Sanblasting Al2O3) and the type of composites resin (Fowable and Packable) for porcelain reparation tensile strength.

This study used 24 porcelain cylindrical samples with 5 mm in diameter and 3 mm in height. Samples were divided into 6 groups with 4 samples in each group. The first and second groups were etched with phosporic acid. The third and fourth groups were etched with hydrofluoric acid. The fifth and sixth groups were sanblasted with 50ìm Al2O3 for 5 seconds. The first, third and fifth groups were given a flowable composite resin and the second, fourth, and sixth group were applied a packable composite resin, and then the samples were tested with a tensile strength Universal Testing Machine. Data were analyzed by two way ANOVA
and Least Significant Difference (LSD).

The results show that there are significant difference between the surface treatment and the type of resin composite to tensile strength of porcelain reparation (p<0.05), but no significantly difference in the interaction between the surface treatment and the type of resin composite to tensile strength of porcelain reparation (p>0.05). The conclusion of this study issurface treatment using sandblast on porcelain reparation produce higher tensile strenght than using HFA 9% and H3PO4 37%, and packable composite resin produce higher tensile strenght than flowable composite resinon porcelain reparation.
