Abstract
Instrumentation and sterilisation in root canal treatment procedure needs sodium hypochlorite as irrigation solution. Sodium hypochlorite is commonly used in the range of 2,5-5,25% concentration. Irrigation using sodium hypochlorite changes the structure of pulp chamber dentin. Final restoration can be established with bulkfill composite resin. Adhesion between composite resin and tooth structure is achieved by using either total-etch or self-etch adhesives and measured by microleakage rate. The aim of this research is to study influence of sodium hypochlorite concentration as irrigation material and adhesive systems to low-viscosity bulkfill composite resin microleakage on pulp chamber dentin.
Twenty-four premolars were divided into three groups (control, NaOCl 2,5% and EDTA 17%, NaOCl 5,25% and EDTA 17%). Each group was divided into two subgroups (total-etch and bonding self-etch). Cavities on all specimens were restored with lowviscosity bulkfill composite resin. Specimens were
centrifugated and soaked in methylene blue 2% then sectioned longitudinally. Methylene blue penetration was measured by stereomicroscope. Data was statistically analyzed with two-way ANOVA followed by LSD.
Results showed that higher microleakage found in 5,25% concentration and total-etch group. Based on ANOVA test, sodium hypochlorite concentration and adhesive systems significantly influence microleakage. It can be concluded that 5,25% concentration sodium hypochlorite and total-etch adhesive resulted in higher microleakage of low-viscosity bulkfill composite resin on pulp chamber dentin.
