Pengaruh Hidrogen Peroksida 40% sebagai Bahan Bleaching terhadap Kekuatan Geser Pelekatan Braket Logam dengan Resin-Modified Glass Ionomer (Penelitian Eksperimental Laboratoris)

Abstract
Some patients who are interested in orthodontic treatment might have already had their teeth bleached. There have been controversial reports regarding the interaction between bleaching agents and shear bond strength of brackets. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of 40% hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent and the time interval after bleaching to shear
bond strength of the metal bracket bonded with a resin-modified glass ionomer, and bond failure site.
Twenty-eight maxillary first premolar teeth were randomly divided into four groups (control, immediately, 2 weeks, 4 weeks after bleaching with 40% hydrogen peroxide). Six teeth from each group were test for shear bond strength and a tooth of each group were analysed by SEM. For all groups, the brackets were bonded with an RMGI. Samples were tested in shear mode on a UTM after bonding Edgewise brackets. The ARI scores were used to assess bond failure site. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way Anova and the Kruskal-Wallis.
The results showed that the shear strength significantly different between groups, except between groups 2 weeks and 4 weeks after bleaching (p <0,05). The conclusion of this study was the application of hydrogen peroxide 40% decrease shear bond strength of the metal bracket. A delay of bonding for 2 weeks and 4 weeks after bleaching would increase shear bond strength of the metal bracket. Most bonding failure occurred at the enamel-adhesive interface.
