APLIKASI CHLORINE DIOXIDE GEL PADA PERIODONTITIS KRONIS PASKA KURETASE (Kajian Pada Pocket Depth, Clinical Attachment Level dan Bleeding on Probing)

Abstract

Periodontitis is the inflammation of the supporting tissues of the teeth caused by pathogen microorganism, which result in the destruction of periodontal tissues and alveolar bone. Curettage is a mechanical cleaning procedure in the periodontitis
therapy for eliminating inflammation tissues, calculus and bacteria colonies. Chlorine dioxide gel has antimicrobial effect for almost bacteria, fungi, yeast, virus and protozoa. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of chlorine dioxide gel application to repair pocket depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL) and bleeding on probing (BOP) in patients with chronic periodontitis after
curettage with anoverview on gender and age.
Research subjects were patients who had chronic periodontitis with pocket depth 4-6mm. There were 240 samples for PD and CAL and 160 samples for BOPexamination divided into two groups, curettage with and without the addition of CDG. Data retrieval count  on PD, CAL and BOP performed on days 0, 21
st and 30th . Data were analyzed using a mixed design ANOVA for PD and CAL and repeated anova for  BOP with significance of 95%.
Statisticsanalysis showed improvements PD, CAL and BOP in both treatment groups (p<0,05) and there has significant difference between two groups (p<0,05). PD, CAL and BOP improvements in men and women did not provide significantly different
result (p <0.05).Obsevation between groups also did not provide significantly different result (p <0.05) compared to other age groups.  The conclusion of this study was the application of CDG on post- curettage of chronic periodontitis can improve periodontal clinical condition with parameters PD, CAL and BOP greater than curettage without adding CDG.
