Abstract
A denture was used to rehabilitated patient’s speech function. Speech defect often reported by full denture patient when they had to made /s/ sound and it could’ve been repaired by adaptation. Normally, speech adaptations in full denture patient were
performed 2 until 4 weeks after insertion. Speech adaptation was seen by analyzing recorded /s/ sound in order to get frequency and amplitude. Frequency and amplitude was included in factor that influenced sound’s quality. This research has aim to observed information abaout effect adaptation time in acrylic resin full denture patient to speech rehabilitation of /s/ sound.
Thirteen full denture patient were recorded when made /s/ sound at 2 week, 3 week, and 4 week after insertion in recording room of Pusat Pelatihan Bahasa, Gadjah Mada University. Reference’s value was taken from thirteen healthy subjects with no history of extraction and have natural dentition which were recorded under the same
conditions. Sound recording was analyzed with Cool Edit Pro 2.1 software to measure frequency and amplitude.
There is no differenece found in frequency and amplitude at two week until fourth week after insertion (p>0.05), but frequency has been improved through reference’s value. Speech quality of /s/ sound in acrylic resin full denture patient did not
