Abstract
Stomatognathic system consists of various components, among others, teeth, masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joints. Changes to one component will cause interference with the function of all components of the stomatognathic system. The aim of the research was to know the effect of upper and lower posterior lost of teeth on temporomandibular joint disorder and the inclination angle of articular eminence.
This analytic-observational research was used 20 subjects, which were divided into two groups. First group was 10 subjects with upper and lower posterior lost of teeth and second group was 10 subjects with complete dentition. An OPG radiograph was
taken from all subjects. All radiographs were measured the articular eminence inclination with a protractor, The data was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance and Multiple Comparisons ( LSD-test ).
The result showed that there were significant differences between group with upper and lower posterior lost of teeth and group with complete dentition (p<0.05). The conclusion of the research, there was effect of upper and lower posterior lost of teeth on temporomondibular joint disorder and the inclination angle of articular eminence.
