Abstract
Resin cement is often used for cementing restoration because oral fluid insolubility and increase marginal adaptation. High shear strength in resin cement is required to minimalize restoration cementation failure. Therefore, material that could increase
shear strength is required. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of metal primer and resin cement to shear strength of Ni-Cr alloy in restoration metal coping.
This study used 24 cylindrical sample of Ni-Cr alloy with 5 mm diameter and 3 mm height. Sample divided into 4 group, each group consisted of 6 samples. Each sample were sandblasted with Al2O3 50µm in 10 seconds. Two groups were made without application of metal pimer and next two groups were made with application of metal primer. Self-adhesive and adhesive resin cement were used in each group. Shear strength of samples then were tested using Universal Testing Machine (Pearson Panke Equipment Ltd., London). The data were analyzed with two-way ANOVA and continued by LeastSignificantDifference (LSD) test.
The results showed that : there was a significant influence between metal primer application and combination of metal primer application and resin cement in shear strength to Ni-Cr alloy (p<0.05), but there was no significant influence of resin
cement in shear strength to Ni-Cr alloy (p>0.05). The conclusions of this study were: 1) Metal primer is increasing shear strength of adhesive and self-adhesive resin cement to Ni-Cr alloy. 2) Adhesive resin cement has higher shear strength to Ni-Cr alloy than self-adhesive resin cement.
