Clean Water Supply in Water Scarce Areas in Karangrejo Village, Purworejo Regency Using Geomagnetic and Magneto-Telluric Methods

Abstract

Karangrejo Village, Loano District, Purworejo Regency is one of the locations in the Menoreh Hills that experiences difficulties related to the provision of water sources, especially during the dry season. The objectives to be achieved in this community service activity are: (1) Applying appropriate technology in the form of geomagnetic and magneto telluric methods to detect drilling points in groundwater in Loano District. (2) Overcoming the problem of drought during the dry season by providing alternative points that have potential groundwater resources in Loano District by drilling groundwater. This community service consists of several stages, including meetings with the village, FGDs with villagers and stakeholders related to clean water issues, the process of measuring potential clean water points in the field, and the process of drilling potential points for clean water supply. This community service program emphasizes participatory efforts and partnerships involving Karangrejo Village, Gadjah Mada University, the Ministry of Agriculture, and SMAN 1 Purworejo Alumni. The measurement results obtained 5 potential points to obtain clean water sources, agricultural water and livestock water. The results of the potential points then carried out the groundwater drilling process at the 5th point with the designation of a clean water source. The output results of this appropriate technology application service are: (1) Map of drill point position from geomagnetic application; (2) Groundwater drilling position from magneto-telluric application. The use of appropriate technology is effective in determining the depth point and drilling location for clean water supply. This service can be one of the solutions to problems in the community by using a partnership approach. Thus, the problem of clean water can be handled in a sustainable way.
