The story contains the origin of the tomb of Ratu Mas Malang, which is also related to the reign of Islamic Mataram under the leadership of Amangkurat I. This research aims to analyze the position of women in the legend of the Tomb of Ratu Mas Malang through a feminist lens, focusing on the forms of women's objectification. This research is qualitative, with data collected through field observation, interviews, listening, and note-taking. The results of this study show that the objectification of women in the story of Ratu Mas Malang is the result of layered repression from the king and men in power as active subjects. The forms of objectification of women are seen in various actions. First, women are still seen as tools to fulfil men's desires based on physical form, reproductive ability, and usefulness in the political sphere. Second, women's agency in the story is reduced through the narrative. Third, the response of the community still tends to view women in terms of their beauty and believes stereotypes about women as a nuisance. On the other hand, the legend of the Tomb of Ratu Mas Malang also opens public awareness that oral literature positions women as mere objects.

===

Alfi Nur Khoirunnisa Copyright (c) 2025 Arnawa https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 3 2 76 87 10.22146/arnawa.v3i2.24866
