The Tirtoadi UMKM Communication Forum (Forkom) plays a crucial role in supporting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kalurahan Tirtoadi. However, this organization faces various internal challenges, such as inefficient human resource management, and external challenges, such as limited access to digital markets. This mentoring activity is one of the community service programs in collaboration with the Student Work Program (KKN) of Universitas Gadjah Mada, aimed at testing the effectiveness of implementing a computerized Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in addressing internal challenges and digital transformation in improving the competitiveness of MSMEs at the local level. Through surveys and in-depth interviews, this activity found that HRIS can improve the efficiency of managing member data and organizational activities. Meanwhile, digital transformation is expected to expand market access and increase MSME revenue. The results of this activity are expected to provide policy recommendations for village governments and relevant organizations in supporting the development of digital-based MSMEs.
Unan Yusmaniar OktiawatiVictor Ilen SegaraHaris Aditya MandalaDarline LanekSabiha ZahratunnadaRatu Salma Bani IsmailMaximillian Hanzel Dias PutraSela NurhayatiVanya Shauqia MarshaDinda Farica AnazCahaya Putra Kurnia WijayaIntan Aprilia ArlistiAileen Fedora PakasiDania Kentari Dyanda PutriLevina Larassati AprilianaAngela Anastasya

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/15787

This research aims to delve deeper into the formation of embodiment to cigarettes within the smoking habits in Paripurno Village, Salaman District, Magelang Regency. Furthermore, this research also highlights how the smoking habit, which has been passed down through generations for years, can play an important role in shaping the social and economic dynamics of the village. This research is a qualitative study with a literature review and interviews with the residents of Paripurno Village. This research uses a phenomenological approach with a descriptive-interpretative method. The research results show that the smoking habit in Paripurno Village cannot be separated from the concept of embodiment in philosophical studies. Cigarettes have become deeply ingrained in the bodies of every individual in this village, both the younger generation and the elders. Cigarettes are not merely viewed as passive objects at a distance, like consumable goods, but also hold profound meanings that encompass axiological, epistemological, and ontological aspects, which have integrated into the daily lives of the village community. This phenomenon shows how cigarettes have transcended their material function and become an integral part of daily life, bringing along stories, experiences, and epistemology that have been passed down through generations. This knowledge shapes the way society understands and interacts with their social environment. The presence of cigarettes in daily life reflects the close relationship between individuals and their bodies, as well as between individuals and their communities and social environments. Relational ontology is evident in the way cigarettes often serve as a tool to assert social status identity within the community and as part of social rituals that strengthen interpersonal relationships. The habit of smoking has integrated itself into the social and cultural structure of the village, creating deep and complex meanings. Ultimately, the habit of smoking in Paripurno Village has become an integral part of daily life, influenced by and influencing axiological values such as religious culture, economy, and socio-cultural aspects. This shows the dynamic interaction between material and non-material aspects in the social and cultural life of the village.
Adhy KurniawanMuhammad Rheza PramadityoAndryan

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/16421

This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of the Ngurisan tradition within the Sasak community in Lombok, an important ritual performed to celebrate the birth of a child. This tradition reflects a harmonious blend between Islamic teachings, particularly through the Aqiqah ceremony, and the rich cultural and symbolic values of the Sasak local wisdom. Ngurisan not only serves as an expression of gratitude to God but also as a means to affirm the cultural and religious identity of the Sasak people. Moreover, this tradition plays a central role in preserving ancestral cultural heritage and serves as a key element in strengthening social cohesion among community members. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with ethnographic methods. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies during the Community Service-Learning (KKN-PPM) program in Lembar Selatan Village, Lombok, providing direct insights into the practice and meaning of Ngurisan. The findings reveal that Ngurisan has significant social functions within the Sasak community, not only as a religious ritual but also as a medium to connect community members, foster social solidarity, and create a sense of togetherness. This tradition symbolizes the continuity of the collective identity of the Sasak people, passed down from generation to generation. However, in the face of modernization and globalization, Ngurisan faces substantial challenges regarding its preservation. The traditional values embedded in this tradition are increasingly threatened by rapid social changes and a growing pragmatic mindset. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of preserving the Ngurisan tradition as a form of resistance against harmful social changes and as a means of maintaining cultural identity and social cohesion within the Sasak community. In conclusion, Ngurisan not only strengthens religiosity and culture but also plays a crucial role as a foundation for maintaining social unity amid the challenges of modernization and globalization.
MuhamadMoralina Aweda NaresworoNatasya Wilma

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/10235

Harjobinangun and Candibinangun Villages, located in the Pakem Subdistrict of Sleman Regency, possess promising prospects in the fields of tourism and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). At present, both villages are focusing on the development of tourism villages as a strategy to strengthen the local economy while simultaneously promoting improvements in health and productivity among community members. Given this potential, it is essential to implement programs that leverage the concept of tourism villages and promote public health in Harjobinangun and Candibinangun through psychoeducational interventions. Such efforts must encompass community skills development, knowledge enhancement, and the advancement of the tourism village itself. Accordingly, the primary objective of this study is to empower the local community to develop tourism villages and to enhance the products generated by productive MSMEs. This research implements psychoeducational programs targeted at the local population and yields improvements in the tourism village potential, public health, and productivity within the area. Findings indicate that, overall, the Pakem Subdistrict holds significant tourism potential. However, in the face of increasing contemporary demands, promotion through social media has not yet been optimized. The community empowerment initiatives carried out in this study represent a community-based intervention focused on enhancing self-efficacy, with the ultimate aim of realizing the villages' potential. In conclusion, all programs were ultimately handed back to the community, which had developed the capacity to implement them independently.
Ardian Rahman AfandiMuhammad Jauharrazan Kaffahaya SuryalunarjatiAlifa Dhya LokaPutri Riana

Family financial planning is becoming increasingly important amid the growing complexity of financial products, global, and national economic uncertainty. Therefore, the “Family Financial Planning Guide” program was implemented to enhance financial literacy among PKK members at Desa Jetis, Kecamatan Bandungan, Kabupaten Semarang, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. This program was designed in several stages and structured as an interactive training session, including a pre-test, material delivery through modules, socialization media presentations, practical implementation, and a post-test to assess participants final understanding. A total of 36 participants attended the three-hour training session, and the evaluation results indicated a significants improvement in their financial literacy. Participants with initially low financial literacy demonstrated substantial progress after the training. The success of this program confirms that the “Family Financial Planning Guide” effectively helps communities better understand and manage household finances, particularly at Desa Jetis. By improving financial literacy, participants are expected to make wiser and more sustainable financial decisions in the future.
Galuh Adi InsaniRendra Nandira WidriatiArul Pujo Utomo

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17408

MSMEs are one of the productive economic businesses that have a real impact in improving community welfare. Sidoarum Village, Godean Subdistrict, Sleman Regency has potential in the tourism and MSME sectors, which has become a Cultural Village Pilot by the Sleman Regency Government in 2023. The high potential of these MSMEs requires an increase in community awareness among business actors regarding digital technology as a means of effective marketing and promotion. Thus, there is a need to strengthen MSME digital capacity, foster local economic development, enhance community digital literacy, and support excursionist tourism patterns and MICE (Meeting-Incentive-Convention-Exhibition) activities in Sidoarum Village. The methods used in this activity include observation, MSME locations mapping, interviews, questionnaires, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Through these activities, 20 MSME entrepreneurs in Sidoarum Village have acquired knowledge and skills in digital branding, digital marketing, and relevant digital literacy tools to advance their businesses in the digital era, including Canva, social media, and e-commerce platforms. MSME entrepreneurs are directly impacted by a greater understanding and awareness of how technology is used in small and medium-size enterprises through e-commerce and social media, as well as the strategies for growth that must be implemented. The next plan is to adjust the training materials to the needs of the participants and expand the target MSME entrepreneurs. Through this activity, it is expected to develop local economic potential and synergy between the tourism sector and MSMEs in Sidoarum Village.
Rini RachmawatiLidwina Mutia SadasriAnindya Puteri Eka SusilowatiAtalla Rahadewi NetaMellinia AnandaIclashul Winantya Wicaksana

As one of the southern regions of Gunungkidul, Kapanewon Saptosari, especially in Cekel Hamlet, Jetis Sub-district, experiences water shortages in the dry season for agricultural activities in the fields. Another agricultural problem in the Kapanewon Saptosari area is the disturbance from monkeys from the Sodong Forest area that damage and eat agricultural products. On the other hand, the potential for sawdust waste is quite abundant in the area. Therefore, one of the alternatives to be developed is the cultivation of consumption mushrooms using sawdust media. However, so far the youth have not understood the mushroom cultivation method and the effect of wood type on mushroom growth. The extension program and the application of appropriate technology for mushroom cultivation aim to increase the knowledge of youth groups in Cekel Hamlet about mushroom cultivation technology and utilize existing sawdust waste. Counseling and mentoring activities are carried out to youth to provide knowledge related to the mushroom cultivation process. The results of the service showed that there was an increase in youth understanding and knowledge about mushroom cultivation methods by 80%. The youth also became aware of the application of appropriate technology in the pretreatment process of sawdust that will be used as mushroom cultivation media. In addition, getting acquainted and knowing the success stories of mushroom farmers also makes youth and communities more confident and optimistic.
Denny IrawatiRafif PujasmaraGalih Putra Syabana

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/9159

As an archipelago country, Indonesia has a risk of access disparities between provinces that may hinder local development. Namu, Batu Jaya, and Malaringgi are three developing villages that face challenges that arise from limited access and need assistance in developing their local potential. In all three villages, the major challenge to local development is nature topography, which affects people’s access to basic education and the mastery of skills for economic activities, especially in tourism. This challenge impacts the people’s ability to receive incoming tourists, resulting in the dependence on raw, under-managed natural resources as their tourist attraction. As an effort to increase the people’s capability in facing this challenge, the Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pembelajaran Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (Community Services-Community Empowerment Learning) Universitas Gadjah Mada team commences various programs with the theme, “Integrated Tourism Villages”. Based on this theme, the team initiates human resources mapping and provides training and assistance in optimizing local potential as a support to local tourism. As a result of these programs, the three villages experienced enhanced knowledge and skills among residents. These improvements formed the foundation for the development of tourism villages in Namu, Batu Jaya, and Malaringgi Villages, through increasing the local population’s readiness to receive incoming tourism.
Eko Tri SulistyaniJaysen Brian SusantoAdzim Mufli RahmanNur Arifah Irfina Ardityaningrum

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17788

Waste has become a critical issue in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The overcapacity of the Piyungan landfill (TPA) has triggered disruptions in waste management in Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, and Bantul Regency. Sleman was designated as an alternative landfill site utilizing Sultanate ground land. However, this initiative, including waste management through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMKal), has not successfully changed the public's tendency to litter. Although Sendangtirto already has attention to the waste problem, it needs the active participation of the community. In response to this challenge, the Nuryo Setiko Clan established the Maju Lestari Waste Bank in 2022 to promote self-reliant waste management behavior through the empowerment of clan members. This study employed an action research method supported by participant observation, focusing on 90% of clan members residing in Sendangtirto Village. The study used a qualitative approach and Participatory Action Research method. The results show that the Maju Lestari Waste Bank successfully provides scheduled waste weighing services, transforms behavior from littering to waste sorting, attracts customers from both the clan and the general public, and increases income through waste savings. In conclusion, the Maju Lestari Waste Bank successfully established a waste bank institution, raised awareness, and provided an effective self-reliant solution for community-level waste management.
Ambar Teguh SulistiyaniNovi Paramitha DewiNabilla ArsifatikaKhalda HanifahSumartiniSiti MaryamahSunyoto

Strictly speaking, they cannot be separated from the sea. This reality gives rise to various problems, starting from inadequate educational facilities, health facilities, public facilities and environmental functions. Realizing this situation, KKN PPM Unit S3-003 students tried to identify existing problems and invite the community to solve them. To identify problems, they use literature studies, observations, unstructured interviews, and surveys. From this data, the UGM KKN-PPM team discovered various problems being faced by Mantigola Makmur Village.
In the midst of the beauty of the rice paddy fields and rolling green mountains in Hargomulyo Village, Gedangsari District, Gunungkidul Regency, exists several issues regarding the environment in which the villagers live in such as the non-existence of a trash management system which leads to the burning of household trash. The arrangement of trees in the village of Hargomulyo village does not receive enough attention and results in trees falling and causing damage and losses for the villager. The conservation of natural resources in Hargomulyo village needs attention as long droughts causes by el nino highlights the need for adequate water conservation. This research will show the importance the use of village regulations in terms of arranging the environment and the conservation of natural resources in the village level. This research will adopt the normative-empirical method. The results of the research show that the level of legal awareness in the village community is still low and the community's behaviour and attitudes towards managing the environment and protecting natural resources are still relatively lacking. To help the people of Hargomulyo Village to be more aware of the existence of the law and more aware of the importance of environmental management and conservation of natural resources, the Student Community Service – Community Empowerment Learning Team (SCS-CEL UGM) is collaborating with the Hargomulyo District Government to help create a Hargomulyo Village draft regulations regarding environmental management of the Village and conservation of natural resources.
AkhmadiPadre Jovianthony Kusumadi

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/14085

The village of Beji has a coconut plantation managed by the village-owned enterprises (BUMDes). The coconut plants in the plantation have been growing for about five years and are now able to produce coconuts. However, these coconuts have not been processed into value-added products to increase their selling price. To address this issue, we conducted education and training on making isotonic beverages using coconut water as the main ingredient. The approach used in this community service activity includes delivering educational materials through presentations to the target audience and implementing practical training methods. The methods applied in this activity include delivering education through presentations to the target audience about two main aspects: first, introducing isotonic beverage products from coconut water; and second, the process of handling raw materials, packaging, and labeling of the isotonic beverage products. After the educational presentations, direct training was conducted in making isotonic beverages. This activity took place at the Beji Village Hall and received a very enthusiastic response from the participants, especially the women. They actively participated in all stages of the activity, from question-and-answer sessions to hands-on practice in making isotonic beverages. The positive impact of this training is the increased knowledge and skills of women in processing coconut water into value-added isotonic beverages. This training successfully improved the skills and knowledge of the community, especially women in the Gunungan hamlet, in utilizing local resources. Through this activity, participants not only learned the correct processing and packaging techniques but also gained insights into the health benefits and economic potential of coconut-based isotonic products. Overall, this training program successfully empowered the community through increased skills and knowledge in processing coconut-based products.
MuhamadFikri Danang HimawanArima Diah SetiowatiInasanti Pandan Wangi

Nasi Island, Aceh has abundant marine resources, such as fish, cuttlefish, octopus, squid and crabs, which serve as the primary livelihood for the local community. Marine catches are only traded fresh without processing so that the potential of fisheries has not been in line with the economy of the local community. Efforts are needed to process seafood into finished or semi-finished products that can increase selling value. This program aims to encourage sustainable local economic empowerment through improving community skills in processing fishery products. This program begins with an analysis of fishery potential and processing, processing practices, socialization of marketing strategies, HPP calculation training, logo making training, to sales trials and customer satisfaction surveys. Through this program, the community is able to process seafood, create high-value products such as fish sticks, and expand business opportunities to improve local economic welfare. The results of the customer satisfaction survey show that the majority of residents are satisfied with the products produced, especially in terms of taste, aroma, texture, snack portion, to design, price, and product information. The alignment of the product with the tastes of the residents is expected to be a good start so that a sustainability program can be implemented to overcome the multidisciplinary problems, both in terms of economy and environment, that occur on Nasi Island.
AkhmadiLatifa Noor AishaSalsabila FaihaDevi Atirotun Muthohharoh

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in the economy of Indonesia. However, many MSMEs in Beji Village, Patuk District, Gunungkidul still use conventional marketing methods and have not adopted digital technology to increase their competitiveness. This KKN-PPM UGM program aims to solve this problem by performing various activities in Beji Village from 16 April to 31 May 2024. Data collection and mapping were done in Beji through interview and observation. MSME training was also carried out with the creation of Instagram and Shopee accounts, rebranding through the creation of a captivating logo, as well as content-creation training for the improvement of digital marketing in the future. In addition, socialization and demonstration of the ecoprint technique were also done with women in the Krakalan Padukuhan. We identified twenty six MSMEs, the majority of which were involved in the food industry. This data was visualized in an MSME map to make observation easier and to allow for the evaluation of spatial distribution. The “mbokdukuh.id” was created, received more than 150 followers, was connected to an e-commerce account, and can be used to further market the MSME product. The ecoprint technique was successfully socialized to the Krakalan Padukuhan. Ecoprint created an opportunity to develop products with added value which are environmentally friendly and with continuity and is hoped to increase the competitiveness and support the digital transformation of MSMEs. Increasing digital literacy and product innovation such as ecoprint opens new opportunities for the locals by increasing their knowledge about the available development opportunities.

MuhamadArya Takbir SambadaIndah Nur RahmadhaniPutri SalsabillaVanetka Daarin HayaVier David Jordan PurbaArif Wahyu Saputra

The Bandulu and Tambang Ayam Village’s residents’ lack of awareness of waste management issues encourages the emergence of the 2023 Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pembelajaran Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (Community Services-Community Empowerment Learning) Universitas Gadjah Mada in Anyer team’s working program as a solution to the problem. Through the theme “Waste Free Villages,” various community empowerment programs are achieved, with roles in managing and reducing the volume of household waste and increasing the functionality of landfills in the area. The waste management program was designed through several steps, such as problem observation and identification, solution and program formulation, program implementation, and evaluation. Within the working program on waste management, the villagers were introduced to various organic and inorganic waste management methods, with an emphasis on changing and adding functional and economic values to household waste. Among the products produced through managing inorganic waste are bags, eco-brick, ryegyotaku, bookmarks, and hydroponic farming with a wick system. The organic waste management program also produced things like eco-enzymes, aromatherapy candles, organic pesticides, and maggot cultivation methods. The implemented program received a positive response due to its benefits in increasing the understanding of waste management and creating waste-based products with functional and economic values. In the future, this program is expected to reduce household waste debit and amplify the villagers’ understanding and effort to conserve the environment.
Eko Tri SulistyaniHerbagus Unggul KawiriaanPrajnadiva Maheswari WisantokoNur Arifah Irfina Ardityaningrum

Puntukdoro Village is one of the villages in Plaosan Subdistrict, Magetan Regency, East Java Province. Puntukdoro village is located in the foot of Lawu Mountain and near Sarangan Lake which strengthened its position as a village with high potential and exposure to tourist visitation. Apart from tourism potential, Puntukdoro Village has around 28 businesses which spread amongst different sectors, with high potentiality in the bamboo weaving center in Ngelo Hamlet and the production and sale of pentol in Klaten Hamlet. However, the high potentiality of businesses hasn't been maximized yet because product marketing in this village is still carried out traditionally, such as direct sales on the side of the road or in the market, without using digital platforms. Whereas in this day, digital platform has become main medium for spreading information which has great possibility and opportunities for businesses marketing to expand market reach. Starting from that, this learning and community service aims at understanding the problems and challenges of local business through interview methods and Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, and Threat (SWOT) analysis to formulate strategies in developing web applications and leveraging geotagging. The results obtained from the analysis are increasing market reach, online presence, and technology understanding for business owners. Utilization of digital platforms such as web application and geotagging have positive impact as seen from the analysis result.
Sendangrejo Village, located in Minggir District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, has significant potential in the freshwater fisheries sector, particularly in tilapia farming. However, the village faces challenges such as low fish prices and inefficiencies in fish processing, leading to losses for local farmers. To address these issues, the PPK Ormawa Nawasatya UGM implemented a training program on fish product diversification for the women of the KWT and PKK groups in Sendangrejo Village. The program aims to enhance the community's knowledge and skills in processing tilapia into value-added products, such as fish nuggets and fish sticks, which can extend shelf life and attract consumer interest. Through participatory training methods, including the PRA approach and hands-on demonstrations, the evaluation results of the pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge and skills. This program not only helps increase the community's income but also has the potential to position Sendangrejo Village as a center for high-quality fish processing. The success of this program underscores the importance of ongoing support and further mentoring to fully develop fishery-based entrepreneurial potential in Sendangrejo Village.
Nasih Widya YuwonoVera Kusuma DewiAprila Kusuma DewiTakwa Okeda Palit

This article discusses the implementation of a community service program in the form of a family records digitization training held in Wedung Sub-district, Demak Regency, Central Java Province. The program was initiated in response to the region’s high vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly flooding. Flood disasters in the area have caused significant losses, including the damage or disappearance of vital family records. Family records contain crucial information and are closely tied to the identity and rights of individuals, especially in administrative and civil matters. Therefore, managing and safeguarding family records is of great importance. The digitization program was implemented as a preventive solution to protect family records from the impact of flood disasters. The program specifically targeted women through PKK groups, religious study groups, and local village officials. The training methods included observation, interactive material delivery on the importance of family records, introduction to digitization techniques, hands-on practice in digital archiving of family documents, and group discussions through Q&A sessions. The training program received positive responses from both village authorities and the local community. Participants demonstrated an increased ability to scan and securely store family records using digital storage platforms. The program effectively enhanced participants understanding of the importance of family records management, as well as their technical skills in digitization. The positive response from participants reflects the program’s success as a catalyst in fostering a more aware and proactive community in protecting their vital assets. Support from the village government also strengthened the sustainability of this initiative, making it a strategic foundation for building community resilience against disaster risks.
Cahyo WulandariAnissa Nurul FahmiSausan Adelia GaluhLintang Putri JelitaGesti Nola Salsabila

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/19155

Sulobaja Village is one of the villages located in Tobadak District, Central Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province. The creation of the Sulobaja Village park was motivated by the lack of educative green open space in the village, which can function as a place of recreation as well as a source of learning for the community. The main objective of making this park is to provide green open space that not only beautifies the village environment but also provides educational benefits for residents, especially in the fields of agriculture, environment, and health. The implementation of the Sulobaja Village park started from July 22 to July 28, 2024. The method used in making this park includes several stages, namely designing the Sulobaja Village Park, preparing materials and equipment such as soil, rocks, compost, crops, ornamental plants, and tools such as shovels and angkong. After all materials and equipment are available, the park construction process begins by planting crops and ornamental plants, and building other supporting facilities. The results of the garden include decorations that read “SULOBAJA” as the garden icon, planting of crops equipped with a drip irrigation system, and planting of ornamental plants with mist irrigation to maintain optimal humidity. In addition, the park is also equipped with segregated waste bins to support good waste management programs, as well as information boards containing various educational posters about the environment, agriculture, and health. In conclusion, Sulobaja Village Park has successfully realized a green open space that not only improves the aesthetics of the village but also serves as a medium for education and community empowerment.
Ganies Riza AristyaIlham FauziAnthony Yuwono SaputroSabrina Salma JannataLeoni Yessa TifaniZafran Daffa ImandaErlangga Aravi NugrohoAya Sofia Mulifatul KhoeriyahNayla Rasya Nareswari

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17215

Agro-edutourism is a tourism concept that integrates agriculture, education, and recreation. Currently, agro-edutourism is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in Indonesia, especially in areas with rich natural resources and biodiversity. This is indicated by an increase in the number of tourists and the contribution of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the tourism sector which reached 4.01% in the first half of 2024, exceeding the previous year's contribution of 3.9%. One location that has the potential to be developed into agro-edutourism is the Magetan Refugia Garden, which has stunning natural scenery and charming flower beds. Therefore, the UGM KKN-PPM Team Period II 2024 offers a work program in the form of "Application of Web-based Plant Cards at the Magetan Refugia Garden". The aim is to make the Magetan Refugia Garden an educational tourist destination by integrating technology through plant card media connected to an informative website, so that it can increase tourist appeal while providing learning experiences and expanding tourists' knowledge. This activity was carried out in July-August 2024 using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, through the following stages: 1) survey and data collection, 2) administrative permit processing, 3) media design (literature study of educational materials), 4) making plant identification cards, 5) website creation, 6) card procurement at the Refugia Garden, 7) audience and socialization, and 8) monitoring and evaluation. This program has succeeded in integrating technology and education in creating informative, interactive, and interesting agro-edutourism. This is shown by the positive response of tourists during the one bye one socialization, 74% of visitors found it easy to access information and 26% felt an increase in their educational experience. This program is expected to have a long-term impact in increasing public knowledge, preserving the environment, and encouraging local economic growth by increasing the number of tourist visits.
PurwantaPuput Dinul ChotimahFaizal Illyas Syah PutraAssyfa Atha

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17916

Jadah tempe a traditional food from Sleman, Yogyakarta, is highly favored by both locals and tourists and is widely sold in the Kaliurang area and its surroundings. However, this product has seen limited innovation, with its primary challenge being a short shelf life of only 2-3 days due to traditional packaging methods, which hinders its distribution to broader markets. Additionally, the lack of product variation limits its appeal, necessitating innovations to enhance both its attractiveness and nutritional value. This community service program aims to address these issues by introducing retort packaging technology to extend the shelf life of jadah tempe and diversifying the product through the addition of beef floss (abon sapi), selected for its high animal protein content, which enhances the product's nutritional value and flavor. The program was implemented through several stages, including field observations to identify production challenges, socialization and discussions with local business groups, training on the use of retort machines and vacuum packaging techniques, and ongoing mentoring in technology application. The results demonstrate that the application of retort packaging, which involves sterilization at 121 °C and vacuum sealing, can extend the shelf life of jadah abon tempe to up to one year, compared to the initial 2-3 days. This method effectively prevents oxygen exposure and maintains product moisture, ensuring both quality and longevity. Furthermore, the addition of beef floss is expected to enhance the product's nutritional profile and consumer appeal. With retort packaging, jadah abon tempe becomes more durable, portable, and convenient to store, making it an ideal souvenir from Yogyakarta while overcoming the limitations of traditional packaging.
Endy TriyannantoRio Jati KusumaMuhammad Akhsin MuflikhunAndri Haryono Awalokta KusumaEdi SuryantoRusmanAbdul Azim QutbRio Olympias SujarwantaDimas Muhammad HusenMuhammad Shaddam RamadhanOktafiandani DarmawanPradita Iustitia Sitaresmi

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17733

The development of local food product diversification is one of the key strategies to achieve food sovereignty. However, efforts toward this goal have not yet been fully integrated into farmers' agricultural practices, resulting in a limited variety of local food products. In response to this issue, this community engagement program aims to educate the public on recognizing the potential and opportunities for developing local food product diversification, enhance community knowledge and skills regarding food diversification, and increase active participation in promoting local food diversification as a means to realize food sovereignty. The program began with field observations to gather participant data, identify the types of crops cultivated by local farmers, and schedule activities in coordination with community partners. This was followed by focus group discussions (FGDs) and public outreach sessions with pre-selected participants. The analysis of the program activities employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The results indicate that the initiative successfully raised community awareness about the potential and opportunities for local food diversification, provided relevant knowledge and skills, and fostered greater community involvement in the diversification process. This activity has also fostered the commitment of both the village government and the local community to ensure the sustainability of the program through continued assistance, either via future Community Engagement Programs (PKM) organized by the UGM Graduate School (SPs) or through student participation in the Community Service Program (KKN-PM).
SudrajatIgnasius Loyola Setyawan PurnamaHeri WijayaMarwan Rajab

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/17716

This article discusses the program to develop the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Wedung Village, Wedung Subdistrict, Demak Regency. MSMEs in Wedung Village offer various superior commodities, including processed fish and shrimp products. These commodities are supported by the village's geographical location and the primary livelihood of the residents as fishermen. However, MSME actors face several operational challenges, such as limited access to technology and infrastructure. These limitations lead MSMEs in Wedung Village to rely on conventional strategies, making it difficult for them to optimize operational efficiency and expand their market reach. The KKN-PPM UGM JT-013 team implemented a community service program aimed at developing the potential of MSMEs through strategic updates. These updates focused on raising awareness about business legality and enhancing skills in financial management, promotional strategies, and marketing. The research methodology involved data collection through surveys and collecting data to identify the primary challenges faced by MSME actors, such as conventional marketing practices, fluctuating raw material prices, and the lack of business legalization. The collected data was then analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The program included training on digital marketing and basic bookkeeping, as well as assistance with obtaining Nomor Izin Berusaha (NIB) and Pangan Industri Rumah Tangga (P-IRT), designing product labels, and creating product catalogs. The program resulted in improved financial and marketing management skills and the issuance of business legality documents for MSME actors. This program is expected to help MSMEs overcome their limitations, optimize their existing potential, and accelerate economic growth in Wedung Village.
Cahyo WulandariUlinnuha Corinna AzmiHeni PrasetyaningrumAssyifa Zahra Namira

https://journal.ugm.ac.id/v3/parikesit/article/view/16789

Puntukdoro Village is one of the villages in the Plaosan area of Magetan, East Java, with the potential for cultivating and commercializing medicinal plants (TOGA). This potential is supported by its strategic geographical location, just 4.9 km from Telaga Sarangan, the most popular tourist destination in Magetan, attracting 1,007,058 visitors in 2023 (Tourism and Culture Office of Magetan, 2024). Puntukdoro Village is also located near the Sarangan highway, which experiences significant traffic. The proximity to tourist attractions and the main road gives Puntukdoro Village considerable tourism and business potential. Based on observations made by the KKN-PPM UGM team, rhizomes, particularly turmeric, are abundant. This is evidenced by the ease of finding turmeric in the area. Additionally, turmeric is very affordable, at 6,000 rupiah per kilogram. Therefore, the development of simplisia (processed plant materials) to boost the economy of Puntukdoro Village has become a program in the implementation of KKN-PPM. KKN-PPM UGM employs a real-time implementation method that begins with observing the target audience, preparing for simplistic production, demonstrating simplistic processing, and conducting sustainable simplistic marketing. The outcome of this activity is that the community's knowledge regarding the proper processing and marketing of simplisia improves, which can enhance the commercial value of TOGA in Puntukdoro Village. Time and dependence on the season are obstacles in the processing of simplicia for comunity. In the long term, an effective marketing strategy will be the key to the sustainability of simplicia products to enhance the economy of Puntukdoro Village. Furthermore, evaluation is needed to determine the level of participant satisfaction with this socialization activity.
PurwantaAnggraini Ihza RizkitaAlifian Rozaky GranandaHayfaza Nayottama Auliarachim
