Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia, a dental scientific journal, was initially published as CERIL journal (ISSN 0852-1352). On September 1, 1994, the magazine was renamed as Majalah Kedokteran Gigi and is designated as a medium of information and scientific knowledge. Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia publishes numerous research articles, case report, and literature study in the area of Oral Biology, Biomaterials, Biomedical Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Dental Public Health and Preventive Dentistry, Conservation and Endodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Dental Radiology, and their development through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach by maintaining the open submission process of the manuscript throughout the year. All submitted manuscripts are subject to the double-blind peer review and editorial review before being accepted for publication.
In 2015, the magazine had its online published version by the name of Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia, starting from Vol. 1 No. 1 with ISSN 2460-0164 of its print version and an online version from 2442-2576 in accordance with the policy of LIPI. The journal was accredited nationally on May 31, 2016, by the Director-General of Strengthening the Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 30/E/KPT/2018 and the accreditation is valid until Volume 6 Number 2, August 2020.
Since 2015, Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia has been using Open Journal System, requiring all writers to register in advance before uploading the manuscript they write online. Afterward, the editors, peer reviewers, and writers can monitor the manuscript processing. Since 2016, Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia is published 3 number in one volume increase from previous year 2 number in one volume. Therefore, published articles were reduced from 17 articles to 8 articles. In Vol. 2, no April 1, 2016, all articles received DOI number.
The issues since Vol. 2, no April 1, 2016 could be traced based on the genesis of the articles. Majalah Kedokteran Gigi Indonesia had published in Indonesian language before publishing the English version in the year 2018. During its transition, in April, two articles were published in English. In August 2018, all articles were written in English. On August 2018, we decided to no longer accept literature review. Since Volume 5 number 2 August 2019, the corresponding authors were indicated by an envelope symbol.
