Abstract

This research aims to e7amine the mineral concentrations of magnesium and calcium in relation to diestrus and proestrus cycles  in  Ongole  crossbred  cows.  Serum  was  taken  from 6 Ongole crossbred cows for the detection of its calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) during which the 3 cows were in diestrus cycle and the 3 other were in proestrucs cycle. The results revealed that the concentration of Mg in the diesterus cycle tended to be higher (2.47±0.39 mg/dL) than that in the proestrus cycle (2.40±0.27 mg/dL) although the Mg concentration during these two cycles did not differ significantly (P>0.01). Ca concentration in diestrus cycle (2.26±0.13 mmol/L) was higher than that in proestrus (2.11±0.07 mmol/L) although both of diestrus and proestruc cycles did not significantly differ (P>0.01). As a conclusion, the concentration of Ca and  Mg  during  the  diestrus  cycle  tended  to  be  higher compared to that during the proestrus cycle in the blood of Ongole crossbred cows.
