Abstract

A hundred and thirty F1 offspring of Boer goats x Ettawa grade were selected to
analyze for their phenotypic and genetic parameters of growth traits. The result showed that birth weight, weaning weight (4 months), and average daily gain averaged
2.86310.134 kg, 14.51911.080 kg, and 94.7481l7.900 g, respectively. Sex of kid and
type of birth significantly (P<0.0l) affected birth weight and weaning weight. Age of
dam significantly (P<0.0l) affected weaning weight but was not significant for birth
weight. Heritability estimates for birth weight, weaning weight, and average daily gain
were 0.32710.036; 025510.122; and 019410.316, respectively. Repeatability estimates for birth weight, weaning weight, and average daily gain were 0.41610.2lO;
026810.139; and 023110.022 respectively.
