Journal of Applied Geology or abbreviated as J. Appl. Geology – JAG, with registration number e-ISSN 2502-2822 focuses on the applied geology and geosciences with its key objective particularly emphasis on application of basic geological knowledge for addressing environmental, engineering, and geo-hazards problems. The subject covers variety of topics including geodynamics, sedimentology and stratigraphy, volcanology, engineering geology, environmental geology, hydrogeology, geo-hazard and mitigation, mineral resources, energy resources, medical geology, geo-archaeology, as well as applied geophysics and geodesy. Furthermore, the Journal of Applied Geology has been accredited by Akreditasi Jurnal Nasional (ARJUNA), officially managed by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Republic Indonesia with SINTA 3 grade since Vol. 6, No. 2 (2021) to Vol 11, No. 1 (2026) according to the decree No.79/E/KPT/2023.

JAG has applied Open Journal Systems (OJS) for processing since 2016. Authors must register prior to uploading the manuscripts online. This system allows readers, authors, editorial boards, editors, and peer reviewers to obtain the real-time status of manuscripts. The journal also adopts double-blind review processes. This journal is an open-access journal and published under the CC-BY license. All contents are freely available without charge to the user and published two issues per year (in June and December) by the Geological Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the authors.
