Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of jackfruit leaf extract on sheep to reduce the number of worm eggs, weekly weight gain, clinical examination in the form of, degree of anemia (Famacha©), BCS, dag score, infected with gastrointestinal worms, in vivo. The research materials include tools and materials used during the study The tools used are: Camera, 3 ml syringe, object glass, deck glass, mortar, dropper pipette, water bath, microscope, stopwatch, counter check, oven, electric scales, surgical scissors, and pipette. The materials used are jackfruit leaf extract, adult worms Haemonchus contortus, distilled water, 0.62% NaCl, anthelmetics, ethanol, 10% formalin, and female sheep. The study was conducted at the UGM Integrated Testing Laboratory, the Small Livestock Laboratory of the Agricultural Development Polytechnic, Animal Husbandry Campus, Magelang, and the Animal Health Laboratory of Polbangtan Yoma, Magelang Campus. This study used a completely randomized design. Determination of the number of samples using the Federer formula: (n-1). (t-1)≥15. where (t) is the treatment group, and (n) is the number of samples. This study used 25 female sheep divided into 5 groups, including: control (P0) with a dose of 0%, treatment 1 (P1) with a dose of 0.6%, treatment 2 (P2), with a dose of 1.2% and treatment 3 (P3) positive control using Albendazole, and treatment 4 (P4) (positive control using healthy and worm-free sheep with each group of 5 sheep as replications. The following is the experimental design scheme. The results of the study can be concluded, among others: Jackfruit leaves contain a total tannin of 23.56 mg / gram, condensed tannin 0.26 grams / kg, saponin 1.49% w / w, flavonoid 1.53% w / w jackfruit leaves, which have the potential as anthelmetic substances. Jackfruit leaf extract is able to increase weekly weight gain of thin-tailed sheep, has a significant effect on reducing the number of worm eggs (EPG) and has a significant effect on, clinical examination in the form of, the degree of anemia (Famacha©), BCS, and dag score infected with gastrointestinal worms and in vivo
