Author Guidelines

  1. Manuscript written for Jurnal Studi Pemuda include research outcomes (field research or literary research), review of policies or social phenomenon, and book reviews.
  2. Manuscript should reflect on youth studies.
  3. Manuscript is written in Bahasa Indonesia. The writing system for article is title, name of the writer, email, abstract with key words, preface, theory/concept/idea, method, discussion or analysis, conclusion, and reference.
  4. The writing system for essay is title, name of writer, preface, discussion, conclution, and reference. Whereas, for book reviews is title, name of writer, book descriptions, preface, and advantages and weaknesses of books.
  5. Manuscript is typed using Microsoft Word program in 12-point Times New Roman and 1.5 spaced. For article is around 5000-7000 words, while the book review must not be fewer than 1500 and no more than 2500 words and the essay must not be fewer than 2000 and no more than 3000 words. It is including the bibliography and footnotes.
  6. Manuscript is to be submitted directly to the https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/jurnalpemuda by creating user account as an author.
  7. The name of the author is written without any academic degree, followed by the name of author’s institution, located under the title of the article. In case manuscript written by the team, the editor is only in contact with the main author or the first mentioned author. The main author must include his/her correspondence address or e-mail.
  8. The author is obliged to send a Copyright Transfer Form (Download Copyright Transfer Form Here) that the format provided in the Jurnal Studi Pemuda’s website. Letter can be sent via email: jurnalstudipemuda@ugm.ac.id
  9. The abstract and keywords must be written in two languages (in Bahasa Indonesia and English). The length of each abstract is around 100-200 words, while the limit of key words is 3-5 words.
  10. Tables and figures must have titles and have a clear number and sources, and be typed in single space. In case of pictures or figures, it is better to attach the white-black format.
  11. The list of references only contains referred sources, and all referred sources must be mentioned on the list. Reference sources consist of, at the least, 80% printed literature published in the last 10 years. The reference sources in the form of research articles in a journal or in a research report (including undergraduate theses, master theses, dissertations, books, and other relevant publications). Articles published in Jurnal Studi Pemuda are recommended to be used as a reference.
  12. Check each referred article for accuracy and make sure every quoted work in the article is written in Bibliography and References. Works that are not cited but mentioned in the Bibliography or References will be omitted by the editor.
  13. All reference mentioned should be written down in reference using ASA (American Sociological Association).

  14. All manuscripts are anonymously studied by reviewers appointed by the editor according to their expertise. The author is given a chance to revise the manuscript based on the reviewer’s or the editor’s recommendation/advice. The decision of publication or rejection will be informed through the author’s email address.
  15. The editor has the right to modify and correct the spelling, writing, and grammar of the published manuscript.
  16. Everything related to citing permission or computer software usage in writing the manuscript or any other things related to copyright done by the author, along with all its legal consequences, becomes the author’s full responsibility.
  17. An author whose manuscript is published will get copies of publishing proof and five copies of printing proof. Unpublished manuscripts will not be returned.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
