Abstract


Identitas regional negara-negara Asia Tenggara yang tergabung dalam ASEAN umumnya diringkas dalam terma “Unity in Diversity”, sebagai slogan demokrasi desa khas Melayu, dengan normatif pelaksanaannya berwujud the ASEAN Way, yakni sistem pembuatan-keputusan bersama berupa diplomasi berbasis proses informal, non-legalistik, berbasis konsensus, dan didorong oleh proses. Ciri ini meninggalkan banyak ruang kosong bagi interpretasi, yang salah satunya diisi oleh kegiatan voluntaristik dari kaum muda dalam menerjemahkan fluiditas definisi identitas kawasan tersebut. Penelitian kualitatif ini melihat kontribusi ASEAN Youth Voluntary Program (AYVP) sebagai organisasi kaum muda voluntaristik ASEAN yang berupaya mensosialisasikan, menginstitusionalisasi, dan mereifikasi identitas kawasan ASEAN melalui kegiatan-kegiatan mereka yang berorientasi pada dimensi sosio-kultural, salah satu dari tiga pilar Komunitas ASEAN menurut Bali Concord II 2003.
