Abstract

Based on the Hydrogeological Map of the Kediri Sheet, Jengglungharjo Village is located in an area of scarce groundwater. This scarcity leads to an annual problem of clean water availability during the dry season in the village. This research aims to identify the parameters that influence groundwater potential zones in the study area. The selected parameters are fractures/joints/faults, lithology, slope steepness, river order, and rainfall. Primary and secondary data processing was conducted using a Geographic Information System (GIS) to produce a groundwater potential zone map for Jengglungharjo Village, based on the Groundwater Potential Index (GPI) method by Ettazarini (2007). The required primary data included fractures/joints/faults and lithology, while secondary data consisted of river order, slope steepness, rainfall, and fractures/joints/faults derived from DEM interpretation. The groundwater potential zones in Jengglungharjo Village were classified into three categories: low, medium, and high, with respective areas of 11 km², 15 km², and 3 km². Verification of the groundwater potential zone map was performed using the ratio method of groundwater potential zone area to the number of springs/wells. High groundwater potential zones are characterized by: (1)Dense fault zones and long major faults, (2)Slopes between 12-20°, (3)Sandstone-tuffaceous sandstone lithology with conglomerate interbeds, (4)Rainfall exceeding 1900 mm/year.The resulting groundwater potential map can serve as a basis and guide for stakeholders in groundwater exploration and exploitation activities to fulfill the water needs of the community in Jengglungharjo Village.
