Jurnal Perikanan UGM (JFS) has been established since 1996. it has been very productive for more than two decades publishing the academic report, journal, and short communication. Jurnal Perikanan UGM publish two issue yearly in February and July. Since 2018, the journal has changed the month of publication in June and December. Jurnal Perikanan UGM first issues was published in September 1996 with registered with Print ISSN number: 0853-6384 and online ISSN: 2502-5066.
In February 2004. Jurnal Perikanan UGM had been accredited according to Decree No. 23a / DIKTI / Kep / 2004. After got the accreditation, several changes and modifications were made to improve the quality of Journal. The changes were made in volume VI (2), July 2004 which covers the outlook, the design and also had the English translation of the name. The name of Jurnal Perikanan UGM was modified into Jurnal Perikanan/Journal of FisheriesJournal of Fisheries Sciences) as an intention to be internationally recognized. In 2009 to support efforts to minimize paper waste, Journal of Fisheries (Journal of Fisheries Sciences) Volume XI (2) in July 2009 with a new design and use A4 size paper. Furthermore, since 2015, Jurnal Perikanan UGM still using the name of its initial name that has been registered since 1996, and has been conducting online journal service. Based on the Decree of the General Director of Strengthening the Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 30/E/KPT/2018, Jurnal Perikanan Universitas Gadjah Mada was designated as an Accredited Scientific Journal from Vol. 18 No. 2, 2016 to Vol. 23 No. 1, 2021 (SINTA-2).
With this long story of Jurnal Perikanan Universitas Gadjah Mada has consistent the content with some articles presenting the results of research, minireview, a record of the results of the study (notes) and reviews (feature). The editorial team persistently maintains the quality of the article by involving the national and international level of reviewer partners. Jurnal Perikanan Universitas Gadjah Mada also opens online access to http://www.jurnal.ugm.ac.id/jfs address so that the publication of the theory and application in the field of fisheries is widespread and may contribute to the improvement and novelty of Science and Technology. Based on the interest of the development of Fisheries Science, Jurnal Perikanan Universitas Gajdah Mada in cooperation with many parties and supported by the National Fisheries Seminar UGM is an annual event Fisheries Department UGM.
