Author Guidelines

 1.    General Principles

As a fundamental requirement, all manuscripts submitted to *JKR* must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) warrant that the work is original and has not been published previously in any form. We accept  three types of articles:

  • Original article
  • Review
  • Case study

2. Manuscript Types and Specifications

2.1. Original Article These reports present Full-length report of an original basic, community research or clinical investigation. They should include a clear hypothesis, methodology, results, and a discussion of the implications of the findings.

  • Word Limit: 3,000 – 5,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures).
  • Abstract: 250-300 words, structured (Background, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion).
  • References: Maximum of 40 references.
  • Tables/Figures: A combined maximum of 8 tables and/or figures.
  • Structure: Title and Abstract before IMRAD. Must follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). Followed by Conclusion, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Reference.

2.2. Review Article These articles provide a comprehensive and critical synthesis of existing literature on a specific, relevant topic. They should offer a new perspective or identify gaps in the current understanding.

  • Word Limit: 5,000 – 8,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures).
  • Abstract: 300-350 words, unstructured.
  • References: A minimum of 30, up to 70 references is expected to demonstrate comprehensive coverage. The literature used are based on proportion of publications in the last 10 years achieved at least 50%.
  • Figure&tables: The number of tables and images is no more than 2 pieces.
  • Structure: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Future Directions, Data Availability, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Reference.

2.3. Case Study These reports present an in-depth, descriptive study of a single or small number of cases. They should be of significant educational or scientific value and describe an unusual condition, a new therapeutic approach, or an adverse reaction.

  • Word Limit: 2,000 – 4,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures).
  • Abstract: 200-250 words, unstructured.
  • References: Maximum of 25 references.
  • Structure: Introduction, Case Presentation (patient details, clinical findings, intervention, outcome), Discussion (analysis of the case, comparison to literature), and Conclusion.
  • Ethical Note: A statement confirming that informed consent was obtained from the patient(s) or legal guardian(s) is mandatory. All identifying information must be anonymized.

3. General Submission Policies

  • Originality and Plagiarism: All submissions will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Any manuscript found to have a high similarity score will be immediately rejected.
  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript. We recommend adherence to the ICMJE criteria for authorship.
  • Ethical Approval: For studies involving human subjects, a statement of approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee must be included in the Methods section. For studies involving animals, a statement of approval from an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent is required.
  • Conflict of Interest: All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. A declaration should be included on the title page.
  • Informed Consent: For case studies and any research involving human participants, authors must include a statement confirming that informed consent was obtained.

 

4. Manuscript Preparation

4.1. General Formatting

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Font: Times New Roman, 11-point.
  • Spacing: Double-spaced throughout the main text, abstract, and references.
  • Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Page Numbers: Continuous numbering at the bottom right of each page.
  • Line Numbers: Continuous line numbering must be enabled in the main document.

4.2. Manuscript Structure Manuscripts should be arranged in the following order. Please submit the Title Page as a separate file to facilitate the double-blind review process.

A. Title Page (Separate File) This page should contain:

  1. Article Title: Concise and informative.
  2. Author Information: Full name of each author, highest academic degree, and institutional affiliation(s) (department, institution, city, country).
  3. Corresponding Author: Full name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  4. Conflict of Interest Disclosure: A clear statement.
  5. Funding Source: List all sources of financial support.

B. Main Manuscript (Blinded File) This file should not contain any author-identifying information.

  1. Title: The full title of the article.
  2. Abstract: As per the specifications for the manuscript type.
  3. Keywords: 3-5 keywords that reflect the content of the manuscript.
  4. Main Body: Structured according to the manuscript type (IMRAD for Originals, etc.).
  5. Acknowledgements: (Optional) Thank individuals or organizations who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria.
  6. References: Formatted in APA 7th Edition style (see Section 4.3).
  7. Tables: Each table on a new page, after the references, with a clear title above it.
  8. Figure Legends: Each figure legend on a new page, after the tables.
  9. Figures: Each figure provided as a high-resolution file (e.g., TIFF, JPEG, PNG with at least 300 DPI) and placed after the figure legends.

4.3. Reference Style (Vancouver Style) References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text. In the text, tables, and legends, identify references using Arabic numerals in square brackets, e.g., [1] or [2-4] or [1,3,5]. The reference list at the end of the manuscript should also be numbered in this order.

    • Book Chapter: Meltzer PS, Kallioniemi A, Trent JM. Chromosome alterations in human solid tumors. In: Vogelstein B, Kinzler KW, editors. The genetic basis of human cancer. 2nd ed. New York: McGraw-Hill; 2002. p. 93-113.

5. Submission Procedure

All manuscripts must be submitted online via our submission portal at: [Journal Website/Submission Portal Link]

Authors are required to upload the following files during the submission process:

  1. Cover Letter: A brief letter stating that the manuscript is original, not under consideration elsewhere, and approved by all authors.
  2. Title Page: As a separate file.
  3. Main Manuscript: As a blinded file.
  4. Figures: As high-resolution individual files.
  5. Supplementary Materials: (If any).

 

6. Peer Review Process

JKR employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Both the authors' and reviewers' identities are concealed from each other. All submitted manuscripts are initially screened by the Editor-in-Chief for suitability and scope. Suitable manuscripts are then sent to at least two independent experts for review. The Editor reserves the right to accept, reject, or request revisions (minor or major) based on the reviewers' comments.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 100000.00 (IDR)
Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

Article Publication: 900000.00 (IDR)
If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
