Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

The Editorial Board of Jurnal Filsafat welcomes article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:

  1. We accept articles with the following types:

    • Research report

    • Conceptual study

    • Theory application

  2. General guideline:

    • Submitted article has never been published before.

    • The article consists of between 5000 and 8000 words (including references, pictures, and tables), written in A4-sized paper (21 x 29.7 cm), single spaced, and with margins of 3 cm for top and left side and 2 cm for right and bottom side.

    • The article is primarily written in English.

    • The returns no more than 15% in a plagiarism checker.

    • The article is written in essay form and contains no dot points and numbering.

    • The article does not use footnotes or endnotes, but running notes (surname, year of publication: page). More below.

  3. Title

    • The title should mention the philosophical perspective(s) used in the discussion.

    • The title is written in English and does not exceed 20 words.

    • There must be no subheadings.

    • The title is written in Times New Roman 14pt, Bold, left aligned, and wholly capitalized.

  4. Name and institution of author(s)

    • The author’s name is completely written without academic title/degree or indication of position.

    • Institution name is completely written.

    • The email address of each author should be included.

  5. Abstract

    • The abstract is written in two languages, Indonesian and English.

    • The abstract contains 150-200 words.

    • Keywords are written in the corresponding language and must not exceed 5 keywords.

  6. Introduction

    • The Introduction consists of the research background, author’s position among other research in related themes, and the theoretical construct of the research. The Introduction ends with emphasis on the items that will be discussed.

    • The Introduction should not exceed 3 pages.

    • Definitions of common phrases should not be written.

  7. Discussion

    • The Discussion includes data analysis, data synthesis, and author’s elaborated arguments.

    • It is necessary to build arguments and work to demonstrate the author’s points clearly.

    • Discussion on every aspect of the issue is welcomed. The author(s) may add sections as needed.

    • A section solely for literature review is unnecessary.

  8. Conclusion

    • The Conclusion must state the answers to the research questions, reestablish the main arguments, and comprehend the overall issues critically.

  9. References

    • The guideline for in-text citations/running notes is provided here. Jurnal Filsafat uses APA 7th style. 

    • References must be cited in the body of the writing and vice versa.

    • All cited references are listed in the Bibliography at the end of the manuscript. All entries are listed alphabetically and chronologically.

  10. Authorship

  • Whereby the submitted manuscript is accepted for review, the Editorial Board will contact the author to sign an ethical form containing statements that
    • the manuscript is original and have not been published elsewhere;

    • the manuscript is not currently being submitted for publication elsewhere;

    • the manuscript will not be withdrawn while the review process is ongoing;

    • and is not in violation of Jurnal Filsafat’s Publication Ethics which can be accessed here

Detailed Reference Guide

  1. In-text citations can be one of these two formats.
    • Parenthetical citation: (Luna, 2020)

  2. The format of the author element in running notes changes depending on the number of authors.
    • One author: (surname, year of publication: page number, if available)
    • Two authors: (first author surname & second author surname: page number, if available)
    • Three authors: (first author surname, second author surname, & third author surname: page number, if available)
    • Four authors: (first author surname, second author surname, third author surname, & fourth author surname: page number, if available)
    • More than four authors: (first author surname, et al., year of publication: page number, if available)
  3. Bibliography appears at the end of the article and includes only works cited in the manuscript. References are ordered alphabetically and chronologically.
  4. It is highly recommended for authors to use reference management software, such as Mendeley or Zotero.

Submission Procedures

The manuscript file must be submitted to Jurnal Filsafat through the following procedure.

  1. Submitting documents is done through the Online Submission System in Jurnal Filsafat e-journal portal here.
  2. The author should register as an author (checking role as author) in “Register” or here.
  3. After the registration is completed, log in as author and click “New Submission”. The article submission consists of five steps: (1) Start, (2) Upload Submission, (3) Enter Metadata, (4) Upload Supplementary Files, and (5) Confirmation.
  4. In the “Start” column, choose Journal Section “Article” and check all the items.
  5. In the “Upload Submission” columns, upload the manuscript file.
  6. In the “Enter Metadata” columns, fill out all the author data and affiliation, manuscript title, abstract, and indexing keywords.
  7. In the “Confirmation” columns, click “Finish Submission” after rechecking the inputted data.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission file is in Microsoft Word (DOCX) format.
  2. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  3. The text is single-spaced, uses a 12pt font, employs italics rather underlines (except for URLs), and all illustrations/figures/tables are placed within the text at appropriate points.

  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  5. Instructions for Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
