Abstract
Ngurah Rai Mangrove Forest Park, located on Bali Island, is a mangrove ecosystem supporting numerous species. However, information on the park’s fish diversity remains limited, resulting in an incomplete inventory of its fish biodiversity. To address this, the present study examines the diversity and conservation status of fish species in the park. Specifically, sampling occurred from August to November 2022 using spears, fishing rods, bubu traps, and experimental gill nets. Data analysis included relative abundance, diversity index, evenness, dominance, and species richness. As a result, a total of 178 individuals from 28 families and 39 species were recorded, with Plotosus lineatus exhibiting the highest relative abundance (12.36). The respective index values for diversity, evenness, dominance, and species richness were 3.29, 0.90, 0.05, and 7.33. Regarding conservation status, most recorded fish species were classified as Least Concern according to the IUCN, while one Vulnerable species (Oreohormis mossambicus) and one Near Threatened species (Scomberomorus commerson) were also found. Taken together, these ecological indices indicate that the park supports diverse fish species.
