Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that requires consistent medication adherence to manage symptoms and prevent relapse. Only half of patients are compliant with their medication, resulting in increased rates of hospitalization. The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between family support and medication adherence among patients with Schizophrenia at Community Health Centers in Sleman, Yogyakarta. This study was observational research with a cross-sectional approach involving 71 people with schizophrenia. Data was collected using researcher-administered questionnaires that consist of some demographic questions, the Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ) and the Medication Adherence Rating Scale for psychosis. The results showed that the respondents' medication adherence was relatively high, with an average score of 8.34 out of a total score of 10. Bivariate analysis indicated that there was a relationship between the duration of illness (p = 0.048), the number of medications (p = 0.029), the amount of family support (p = 0.006), and the satisfaction with family support (p = 0.000) with medication adherence in people with schizophrenia. Multivariate analysis showed that these four significant variables had a simultaneous effect on medication adherence (p = 0.000), with an influence percentage of 40.8%. These findings indicate that the most dominant variable affecting medication adherence was satisfaction with the support received by the patient, indicating that the more satisfied patients are with the support they receive, the better their medication adherence will be.
