Rap di Freiburg: Ekspresi Identitas dan Respons Kelas Sosial
Abstract
Musik merupakan bagian dari kehidupan sehari-hari. Akan tetapi, musik juga dapat menjadi media untuk menyuarakan ketimpangan sosial dan penegasan identitas yang ingin diakui. Salah satunya adalah musik rap, yang berasal dari Amerika Serikat, yang telah menyebar secara global, hingga ke Jerman. Dalam tulisan ini, akan dibahas mengenai, (1) bagaimana para rapper di Freiburg memaknai karyanya terhadap kelas sosial di lingkungannya? Dan; (2) bagaimana para rapper menghadapi stereotip masyarakat dengan identitas sebagai rapper? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi, serta experimental approach untuk meraih data. Hasil yang diraih adalah, para rapper memaknai musik mereka sebagai senjata untuk menyuarakan ketimpangan sosial di lingkungannya dan mencoba berdamai hidup dengan stereotip sebagai sosok antisosial di mata orang awam.
