Article Writing Guidelines
Articles submitted to Middle Eastern Culture and Religion Issues (MECRI) should be in form of essay which includes:
- Title (max. 16 words),
- Abstract (150-250 words for each) which includes:
- The Purpose of the Research (in one sentence only)
- Methods (in one sentence only)
- The Main Findings of the Research (in one sentence only)
- The Implications of the Research (in one sentence only)
- The Originality of the Research (in one sentence only)
- Keywords (4-7 words) - Introduction (without subsection, 2-3 pages) which includes:
- Provide the social context or background of this research (in one paragraph only)
- Summarise previous studies into categories, each with 3–5 references, summarise the gaps or limitations of previous studies, and formulate the new research direction (in three-four paragraphs only)
- Explain the novelty of this research (the existence of this research compared to those previous studies) (in one paragraph only)
- Discuss the research questions and research purpose
- State the research objectives (in one paragraph only)
- Present the arguments or hypotheses (in one paragraph only)
- Discuss Literature Review which includes: map existing studies and show 3–4 main trends, explanation of the first, second, and third trend with focus, concepts, approach, methods, and references, summary of the gaps or limitations of previous studies, and formula of the new research direction (all in six-seven paragraphs) - Methods which includes:- Describe the unit of analysis and research focus (in one paragraph only)
- Explain the research design and justify its use (in one paragraph only)
- Identify the data sources used (in one paragraph only)
- Explain the data collection techniques (in one paragraph only)
- Describe the stages and techniques of data analysis (in one paragraph only) - Result (Present three subheadings that directly address the research objectives, described comprehensively with credible data)
- Discussion (written in the form of subchapter(s) which includes:
- Summarise the research findings (in one paragraph only)
- Explain the relationships between variables or concepts (in one paragraph only)
- Compare findings with previous studies (in one paragraph only)
- Highlight the novelty of this research (in one paragraph only)
- Interpret the broader implications of the findings (in one paragraph only)
- Reflect on the positive and negative consequences (in one paragraph only)
- Explain the practical or policy implications (in one paragraph only) - Conclusion, includes:
- Summarise the main findings (in one paragraph only)
- State the scientific contributions (in one paragraph only)
- Explain the study’s limitations and suggest future research (in one paragraph only) - Reference list format based on the style of APA (American Psychological Association) 6th edition. The reference list should appear at the end of the article and include only the literature actually cited in the manuscript. References are arranged alphabetically. We strongly recommend authors to use reference tools, such as Mendeley, Zotero, Endnote, etc.
