Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

General Information

Jurnal Komplikasi Anestesi (JKA) publishes high-quality scientific manuscripts related to anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, pain management, neuroanesthesia, critical care, intensive care medicine, and patient safety.

Manuscripts may be submitted as:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Case Reports

  • Literature Reviews / Systematic Reviews

Submitted manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.


Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the following requirements:

  • Language: English

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Line spacing: Double-spaced

  • Paper size: A4

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Layout: Single column

  • Maximum length: 4,500 words (excluding abstract, tables, figures, and references)

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official article template before submission.


Original Research Articles

Title

  • Concise and informative (15–20 words recommended)

  • Author names should be written without academic titles.

  • Institutional affiliations must be provided.

  • Corresponding author information must include email address and telephone number.

Abstract

  • Written in English.

  • 200–300 words.

  • Structured into:

    • Background

    • Methods

    • Results

    • Conclusion

  • Include 3–5 keywords.

Introduction

The Introduction should:

  • Present the background and rationale of the study.

  • Describe current knowledge and existing gaps.

  • State the study objectives clearly.

Methods

The Methods section should include:

  • Study design.

  • Study setting and period.

  • Participants and eligibility criteria.

  • Sampling technique.

  • Data collection procedures.

  • Statistical analysis.

  • Ethical approval information.

Results

Results should:

  • Be presented clearly and objectively.

  • Include relevant tables and figures where necessary.

  • Avoid interpretation of findings.

Discussion

The Discussion should:

  • Interpret the findings.

  • Compare results with previous studies.

  • Explain the clinical significance and novelty of the study.

  • Discuss strengths and limitations.

Conclusion

Conclusions should:

  • Directly answer the study objectives.

  • Highlight important clinical implications.

  • Avoid overgeneralization.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements should be placed before the References section and include:

  • Individuals or institutions providing support.

  • Funding information.

  • Conflict of Interest declaration.

If no funding was received, authors should state:

"This study did not receive specific grants from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or non-profit sectors."


Case Reports

Case Reports should contain:

  1. Title

  2. Abstract

  3. Keywords

  4. Introduction

  5. Case Presentation

  6. Discussion

  7. Conclusion

  8. References

Case reports should describe rare, unusual, or educational clinical cases with significant relevance to anesthesiology or critical care practice.


Literature Reviews / Systematic Reviews

Review articles should include:

  1. Title

  2. Abstract

  3. Keywords

  4. Introduction

  5. Methods (search strategy and selection criteria)

  6. Results

  7. Discussion

  8. Conclusion

  9. References

For systematic reviews, authors should follow the PRISMA guideline whenever applicable.


Tables and Figures

Tables

  • Number tables consecutively.

  • Provide concise titles.

  • Maximum 6 tables.

Figures

  • Number figures consecutively.

  • Provide captions below figures.

  • JPEG (.jpg) format.

  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi.

  • Maximum combined total of tables and figures: 6.


References

References must follow the Vancouver citation style.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 references.

  • At least 80% from peer-reviewed journal articles.

  • Prefer references published within the last 10 years.

  • References must be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the manuscript.

  • For references with more than six authors, list the first six authors followed by "et al."

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote


Ethical Considerations

All research involving human participants must include:

  • Ethical approval number.

  • Name of the ethics committee/institutional review board.

  • Statement regarding informed consent where applicable.


Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

Manuscripts with evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical publication practices will be rejected.
