Slopes are areas that are prone to landslides. This is due to various factors such as
lithological conditions, geological structure, rainfall, earthquakes, and anthropogenic
activities. The objective of this study is to identify the potential types of landslides that may
occur on slopes along the access roads to the Sermo tourist area, specifically the Sermo-
Kokap Road, Sermo Subdistrict, Kleupu-Siluwok Road, and Pengasih-Sermo Road, Kokap
District, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta, using kinematic analysis and Limit
Equilibrium methods. Observations were conducted at six monitoring stations to collect
data on discontinuity orientations such as layering, joints, and faults, which were then
analyzed using the Dips v. seven program to obtain information on landslide potential. The
analysis results indicate that monitoring points STA 1, STA 4, and STA 5 have the potential
for rolling landslides. Meanwhile, STA 2 and STA 6 have the potential for lateral and
planar landslides. STA 3 only has the potential for planar landslides. Limit equilibrium
analysis with safety factor calculations showed that STA 3 has the potential for planar
landslides with a safety factor of 1.217, which is considered safe. However, STA 2 and STA
6, which have the potential for lateral and planar landslides, have safety factor values of
1.027 (wedge), 1.032 (planar), 1.012 (wedge), and 1.039 (planar), respectively. STA 2 and
6 are in a critical condition and require further protection. The results of this study are
expected to provide vital information for reducing the risk of landslides in the area.
