Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

Buletin Psikologi adopts the American Psychological Association (APA) standards for publications in its guideline for authors policy, both in terms of publication structure (i.e., Introduction, Method, Results, and Discussion or IMRaD) and citation style.

Please follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7ed.) when preparing your manuscript. Manuscripts that do not follow the required APA style will be rejected directly by the Editors.


General Author Guidelines


Title should be kept concise, informative, and interesting. Keep the title no more than 14 words.


Provide each author’s affiliation and contact address


Abstract should be written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia languages. The length of abstract should be no more than 200 words and is written in a single paragraph. Briefly describe the background, objective, methodology, findings, conclusion, and implication of the research. Avoid using abbreviations and citations.


Include 4-5 keywords or phrases that are arranged in alphabetical order and separated using semicolons. Avoid using terms that are too general or too long.


This section should briefly provide information on the background of the research, or the problem being addressed, literature review, state of the originality of the work, hypothesis, and research objective. Avoid the use of secondary citations.


Explain briefly the methodology used in the review, including but not limited to search strategy, inclusion criteria, and the dataset.

Result and Discussion

Interpret the study findings in the context of previous research. Authors should also address the strength and limitation of their study. This section should not be a repetition of the result section.

Conclusions and Recommendation

Present the main conclusions of the study. This section should be separated with the implication of the findings (e.g., a suggestion for future research, policy suggestions, etc). For clear samples, please refer to our published articles


Provide acknowledgement to those who have contributed to the research (i.e., funding, research assistant). The name of the funding organizations should be written in full.

Authors’ contributions

Declare contribution of each of the author to the research and manuscript development. Authorship should be restricted to those who have contributed significantly to the work by either: conceiving or designing the study, administering the study, analyzing data, or writing the paper.

Please use the order of authorship in the declaration for example: “The first and second author designed the study. All authors contributed to administer the study and analyzed the data. All authors read and approved the final version of the manuscript”.

Conflict of Interest

Declare any competing interest (i.e., financial, professional, or personal relationships relevant to the work).

Funding All research articles should have a funding acknowledgement statement included in the manuscript in the form of a sentence for example "The author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This work was supported by the Faculty of Psychology Council [grant number xxx]".
Orcid ID The ORCID iD of all authors should be included in the article, If you don't yet have an ORCID iD, register now — it's free and only takes 30 seconds.


All references must use primary references, and must be recent publications (up to the last 10 years). All sources that are cited in the text must be included in the Reference list.

The journal uses APA citation style. Please check Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th. ed.) or

For non-English language references, provide the English translation between square brackets ([ ]) right after the title.

Authors are strongly urged to use a reference manager such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote to build their bibliography, saving the file in. bib format (Tutorial to Create .bib file in Reference Manager)

Figures and Tables

All tables and figures should be referenced in the text. Author may use a sentence to indicate the desired location of Table /Figure (i.e., Figure 1 near here). Author must also explain the relation between the table/figure and the text. The reference table uses the APA 7th Edition


Article Submission

Article submission in Buletin Psikologi is managed by an online submission platform at the following address

This system enables authors to trace the progress of their manuscript submission and speeds up the article’s processing time.

For the initial screening stage, authors must conform to our guidelines (see the manuscript structure. Manuscripts that do not comply with the guideline will be rejected immediately.

Submission steps:

  1. All submissions must be done online via We do not accept email submission.
  2. If you have not submitted manuscript previously in our journal, please register as Authors. To do so, please click on the "REGISTER" button to the top of this page and enter the requested information. Authors will then receive a username and password to log in and submit their journal. Please click the "LOG IN" button on the left and log in to the system as "Author." You may then submit your manuscript and track its progress through the system
  3. The following supporting documents should accompany the submitted manuscript, Cover letter, and Statement of originality

Instructions for Revised Submission:


Please provide a copy of the revised text with changes marked in the text using either tracking changes or highlighting


In your written response to the reviewers’ comments, give the page number(s), paragraph(s), and/or line number(s) where each revision was made.


Respond to each referee’s comments, indicating precisely the changes made in response to the critiques. Also, give reasons for suggested changes that were not implemented, and identify any additional changes that were made.


In any case that we do not receive revisions within 1 month period, the manuscript will be administratively withdrawn and the manuscript must be resubmitted for further consideration.

At the editors’ discretion, and in cases where substantial new data are required, extensions may be granted for revisions. In such cases, every effort will be made to retain the original reviewers


Acceptance of Manuscript



Corresponding authors will receive an e-mail with a link to our online copyediting system, allowing annotation and correction of proofs online.

The copyediting platform system is similar to MS Word. Authors can edit text, comment on figures/tables and answer questions from the Copy Editor. Web-based proofing provides a faster and less error-prone process by allowing you to directly type your corrections, eliminating the potential introduction of errors.

Please use this copyediting stage only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness, and correctness of the text, tables, and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor.

It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to the journal in one communication. Please check carefully before replying, as the inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed.

After online publication, further changes can only be made in the form of an Erratum, which will be hyperlinked to the article.
