Dr Nur Afrainin Syah is a Medical Educator in Faculty of Medicine at Andalas University, Indonesia, where she was trained as a Medical Doctor. Dr Nur’s current role is teaching family medicine and conducting research, as well as helping to develop course curricula and student assessment. She also finds some time to run her private primary care clinics. She gets her Master’s degree in Medical Education and a PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. Her research interest lies in linking education-based research and practice medicine to benefit patient care, especially in primary health care. Her recent research focuses on examining interprofessional teamwork in government own primary care clinics in Indonesia, and how the findings could inform the development of interprofessional education in a primary care setting. Her publication in Family Practice describes the experiences of Indonesian GPs in the era of health reform in maintaining Standards of Medical Practice. She was one of the investigator of Indonesian PRIMASYS case study (primary health care study) in 2017, supported by the WHO. She is a co-applicant from Indonesia for proposal approved to be funded in 2017 by Australia-Indonesia Centre, titled “Engaging primary care physicians in approaching adolescents for early prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs): An educational initiative project at Yogyakarta”.
