Abstract

Currently, the need for clean energy is a global concern. This is due to the massive use of fossil fuels, which release greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, causing climate change and global warming. In this case, new and renewable energy is the solution to these global environmental problems. Indonesia has committed to reducing GHG emissions through its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) as part of its obligations under the Paris Agreement. This article aims to review Indonesia's renewable energy policies, assessing how well they align with the Sustainable Development Goals and adhere to the principles of good environmental governance. This article argues that the development of sustainable energy in Indonesia requires new thinking and systems, so regulations on new and renewable energy must be incorporated into comprehensive regulations that align with sustainable development and good environmental governance.
