SEAJ-ALGov is a double blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah Mada. The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. This statement clarifies the ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal as well as allegations of research misconduct, including the author, the chief editor, the Editorial Board, the peer-reviewer and the publisher.
We adhere to the values mandated by the academic integrity values promoted by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic Indonesia (https://anjani.kemdikbud.go.id/contents/nilai-integritas-akademik-77664935) as well as based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines)
The publication of scholarly articles in SEAJ-ALGov plays a crucial role in advancing credible legal scholarship and strengthening academic discourse. Published articles reflect the integrity, originality, and scholarly rigor of the authors and their affiliated institutions. Since peer-reviewed publications are fundamental to academic knowledge production, all parties involved must adhere to clear ethical standards.
As the publisher, SEAJ-ALGov takes responsibility for safeguarding ethical integrity throughout all stages of publication. Editorial independence is strictly maintained, and any form of advertising, sponsorship, or commercial interest does not influence editorial judgment or publication decisions.
The editorial team of SEAJ-ALGov is responsible for determining which submitted manuscripts are accepted for publication. Decisions are based on the journal’s editorial policies, the academic merit of the manuscript, and reviewers’ evaluations. Editors operate within applicable legal frameworks concerning defamation, copyright, and plagiarism and may consult with fellow editors or reviewers when necessary.
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their scholarly value and relevance, without discrimination based on authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic background, nationality, or political views.
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Editorial information related to submissions is shared only with authors, reviewers, editorial advisors, or the publisher, when appropriate.
Editors must not use unpublished information obtained through manuscript submissions for personal research purposes without the author’s explicit written consent.
Peer reviewers assist editors in reaching informed publication decisions and provide constructive feedback to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Reviewers who feel unqualified to assess a manuscript or unable to complete the review within the agreed timeframe should promptly notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Manuscripts under review must be handled as confidential materials and should not be shared or discussed with unauthorized individuals.
Reviews must be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of authors is unacceptable. Reviewers should provide clear evaluations supported by scholarly arguments.
Reviewers should identify relevant literature not cited by the authors and notify editors of any substantial similarity or overlap with previously published work.
Reviewers must not evaluate manuscripts in which they have competing interests or personal, professional, or institutional relationships that could bias their judgment. Information obtained during peer review must not be used for personal advantage.
Each manuscript submitted to SEAJ-ALGov undergoes a double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ recommendations. In certain cases, an additional reviewer may be consulted.
Authors must present an honest and precise account of their research, including accurate data representation and objective interpretation. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail and references to allow replication. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation constitutes unethical conduct.
Authors may be required to provide raw data for editorial evaluation and should retain research data for a reasonable period following publication.
Manuscripts must be original works. Any use of others’ ideas, data, or words must be appropriately cited or quoted.
Authors must not submit the same or substantially similar manuscripts to multiple journals simultaneously. Duplicate or concurrent submissions are considered unethical and may result in sanctions.
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research design, execution, analysis, or interpretation. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could influence their research. All sources of research funding must be clearly stated.
If authors discover significant errors in their published articles, they are obligated to promptly inform the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions when necessary.
In cases of suspected or confirmed research misconduct, plagiarism, or unethical publication behavior, the publisher will take appropriate corrective actions. These may include issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions. The publisher actively works to prevent unethical practices and does not tolerate misconduct at any stage of publication.
The publisher is committed to ensuring long-term access to published research. SEAJ ALGOV maintains digital archiving systems and collaborates with relevant organizations to preserve scholarly content and guarantee its continued availability.
