Humaniora, managed by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada, will hold a half-day workshop on 5 May from 10.00 AM to 03.30 PMThis workshop supports participants preparing their manuscripts from finished research projects for publication in academic journals. The workshop consists of two sessions.

Session 1: Navigating Academic Publishing with Dr Annisa R. Beta (University of Melbourne)

Drawing from her experience as an experienced author, reviewer, and editor, she will discuss common pitfalls in academic publishing and strategies for strengthening your first manuscript, particularly for publication in top-tier journals.

Session 2: Small‑Group Manuscript Development 

Participants will be divided into 3-4 groups, where each participant will present their plan for the paper. Following the tradition of peer review, participants will also provide feedback to one another. Each group will be facilitated by a Humaniora editor, who will provide feedback on every extended abstract.

Eligibility

  1. Early‑career researchers and postgraduate students (MA/PhD).
  2. Research in the humanities or social sciences on any aspect related to Indonesian culture (broadly defined). Click here for more information on Humaniora focus and scope and Article Guidelines
  3. Must have data ready (this workshop will not consider an abstract from a proposed research).
  4. Must submit a 1,000‑word extended abstract.
Commitments

By applying, participants agree to:

  1. Attend the full half‑day workshop
  2. Develop their manuscript during and after the workshop.
  3. Submit the resulting paper to Humaniora for consideration.
  4. Follow the editorial process, including revisions and peer review.

This workshop will be held hybrid. We encourage participants to attend onsite, but if you are from out of town, you are welcome to attend online, as we do not cover travel and accommodation costs.
