Journal History

SasdayaGadjah Mada Journal of Humanities was initiated to provide an academic publication platform that can be used to discuss, to disseminate, to share, and to debate the social and humanities sciences in the context of Southeast Asia. The journal initiation was fully supported by the Post-Graduate Program of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in July 2016. The naming process of the journal took longer than was expected, experiencing debates among the involved parties.

At the end of the day, the involved parties agreed to to use the phrase "Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities", proposed by Rahayu Puji Haryanti as the tail of the journal title. Meanwhile, the main title remained three alternatives: Sasdaya, Mozaik Humaniora, dan Nusantara. Th three alternatives were brought to the Head of the Post-Graduate Program (Humanities Sciences) of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Bambang Purwanto. Sasdaya was finally chosen as the main title of the journal. Hence, the complete title is “Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities”. The phrase of "Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities" represented the focus of the journal, starting in August, 2016. Prof. Bambang explained that Sasdaya is quite popular around 1960s-1970s because it had ever been a branch of social sciences. The existence of Sasdaya felt like reliving the memory of a glorious Sasdaya as a branch of social sciences in the past.

The following steps dealt with the administrative stuff like registering ISSN to LIPI, communicating with DSSDI UGM as the IT support. At the same time, the editors started to expose the existence of the Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities to collect articles from potential authors in the related fields. Sasdaya firstly published an edition containing five artivcles in Bahasa, one article in English, and one book review.

The administrative stuff was running well, indicating Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities having the ISSN and online platform since the beginning of its publication. The former Sasdaya’s URL is www.jurnal.ugm.ac.id/sasdayajournal, employing OJS version 2. Currently, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities employs OJS version 3 and the URL moves to www.jurnal.ugm.ac.id/v3/sasdaya.

Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities was officially published in both online and print version on November 9, 2016, symbolized with a “potong tumpeng” ceremony in the Meeting Room 1, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, involving the Head of Humanities Sciences Program, Prof. Bambang Purwanto, M.A., accompanied by the Vice Dean, Dr. Setiadi.M.Si., post-graduate students, editorial team, technical team, and other valued parties.

Changing of Publish Time

After the publication of two volumes, the journal team of Sasdaya conducted an evaluation to improve journal management. Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities was published every February and August each year. This publication has started at Volume 3. No. 1,  2019. Information addition, we also improved information on the website and all the submission of articles entirely online.

Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities Officially registered at the Center of LIPI Scientific Information Documentation (PDII), ISSN register Number 2548-3218 (print version) by SK or decision letter No. 0005.2548/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN / 2016.11. The online version of the Sasdaya Journal registered by ISSN number 2549-3884 (online) according to SK No. 0005.25493884/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2017.02, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities published in November and May. be every February and August, starting Vol. 3. No. 1 (February 2019).

After evaluating the Sasdaya Journal for improvement of the quality and management, Sasdaya journal changes its publishing time, that is every February and August.

Recently, after considering the eficiency of time managament along with the administrative stuff in the faculty, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities is published in June and December each year, starting 2022.

Indexed by DOAJ

Since January 17, 2020, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities has indexed by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). DOAJ is an online directory that indexes and provides open access to high-quality journals.

Changing of Article Layout 

The purpose of changing the article layout in this journal is to improve the design make better it from side visually.

Retracted Article

Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities never allow all articles that violate the principles of ethics publications like double publication, plagiarism, etc. Therefore, management will retract all articles after identified and founded evidence of violations of ethics publication. Retraction the article occurred because of a double publication in the Philosophy Journal. Article link here.

Indexed by Arjuna (SINTA-4)

In 2020, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities successfully obtained the SINTA 4 level in Indonesian Journal Indexing (Arjuna). The accreditation document is available in this link to download.

Moving to OJS 3 Platform

At the beginning of 2022, mainly from Vol. 6 (1), 2022, Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities moved to OJS 3 platform from OJS 2 for a more straightforward user interface and sophisticated features.

Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada Journal of Humanities is a multidisciplinary scientific journal with the main objective of exchanging, developing, and disseminating science within the sciences of the Humanities, especially those related to Literary and Cultural issues (archeology, history, economics, geography, language, law, political science, anthropology, and religious studies) in Southeast Asia. Articles published in journals are based on research results, fieldwork, and literature studies (theory development) by first through a peer-reviewed process. Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada The Journal of Humanities is published twice a year (November and May). Sasdaya: Gadjah Mada The Journal of Humanities invites academic, research, and intellectual practitioners to submit their critical writing to contribute to the development of the humanities sciences.
