Abstract
Rapid technological advancements require traditional cultures to adapt in order to survive. One such effort to preserve culture is the publication of *Tabloid Carakita* by the Cultural Office (Kundha Kabudayan) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This magazine is written in Javanese script and features content in three languages: Javanese, Indonesian, and English. This article examines how *Tabloid Carakita* employs Javanese script in a cross-linguistic context and interprets this practice as both a preservation strategy and a manifestation of ‘cultural harmony.’ Research data were collected from various editions of *Tabloid Carakita* and analyzed qualitatively through observation, literature review, and informal interviews. The findings indicate that the cross-language use of Javanese script adheres to phonological rules that align with the sounds of the spoken languages. Additionally, the *Tabloid Carakita* has proven to be an effective strategy for preserving Javanese script through a modern approach that signifies cultural revitalization and harmony, while also conveying important social and cultural values.
